Romantic Proposal in Commercial: David Lautman Pops the Question to Megan Li Wang Where They First Met

David Lautman, a former General Hospital actor, came up with a unique proposal idea for his fiancée Megan Li Wang.

Wang posted a TikTok video of the proposal on April 1st, mentioning that she "accidentally recorded" it. She thought that a Lenovo ThinkPad commercial, which they both appeared in back in 2022, was being re-aired without their consent.

Lautman had a surprise for Wang that she was unaware of. He had actually created an extended version of the commercial as a way to propose to her. In this special video, a narrator prompted Lautman to share any additional thoughts before the actor on screen pretended to toss a ring box to the real Lautman. Inspired by his onscreen character, Lautman then got up and presented a unique diamond ring shaped like a cat.

Amid laughter, Lautman revealed, "It was quite a challenge to convince you to let me play that episode of the TV show. But since we first met during this commercial, I felt it was fitting to have an extended version that was meaningful to us."

Wang's laughter could be heard in the background as Lautman proposed to her. In response, she jokingly said, "I don't know who you are. Yeah, sure," when he asked her to marry him.

Lautman announced the engagement on Instagram on Monday.

He wrote that she responded with a hesitant 'Yes,' which he attributed to adrenaline, shock, surprise, and uncontrollable laughter from the proposal. Wang expressed his love for Megan, describing every day with her as easy, joyful, and filled with laughter, happiness, and plenty of cats. He eagerly anticipated forever together with her. @meganliwang‍️‍️.

On Sunday, March 31, Wang also shared a heartfelt message of her own.

"I enthusiastically agreed! Our relationship has been smooth sailing because it just feels right. You never take offense to my jokes, but instead, you playfully tease me in return," she shared on Instagram. "You truly get me, and most importantly, you understand and love my cats. You've become the dad they've always needed. I can't wait to expand our furry family with more cats. @davidlautman."

In the comments section, Lenovo offered the couple a special gift to celebrate their engagement and history with the tech company.

"You really had us worried for a moment there! Congratulations to both of you on your engagement! Since a ThinkPad played a special role in the beginning of your love story, would you like matching ThinkPads to celebrate together?" the comment said.

Before sharing laughs and joy during their engagement, Lautman and Wang showed that they have a great sense of humor in their relationship.

“Great times with @meganliwang ,” Lautman captioned a May 2023 Instagram post featuring a series of snaps of him smiling for the camera while Wang stared at him blankly.
