Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Kurt Cobain, and Riley Hawk, son of Tony Hawk, recently got married without much fanfare. TMZ reported that the couple got their marriage license in San Diego County in September and officially tied the knot on October 7 in Los Angeles.
R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who is Frances' godfather, officiated the wedding ceremony. Frances' marriage is her second, while it is Riley's first.
Frances was born in 1992 to Kurt and his wife, Courtney Love, just two years before the tragic suicide of the Nirvana guitarist. On the other hand, Riley was born in 1992 to Tony and his ex-wife Cindy Dunbar. Tony also has sons Spencer, 24, and Keegan, 22, with his ex-wife Erin Lee, as well as a daughter Kadence, 13, with his ex-wife Lhotse Merriam.
Though the newlyweds have reportedly been together since January 2021, Frances publicly acknowledged their relationship on Instagram the following year. In January 2022, she shared a slideshow of pictures and expressed how taking a year-long break from posting on Instagram greatly benefited her mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. One of the pictures in the slideshow showed Riley holding a dog in front of a Christmas tree.
Frances further explained that the year 2021 helped her become more present in the moment, something she deeply appreciates. She wanted to share a few moments from the past year that brought her immense joy.

The couple has chosen to maintain their relationship mostly private, but Frances has provided a few insights into their romance through her social media. On her 30th birthday in August 2022, Frances shared an endearing mirror selfie of her husband. In April, it appears that Riley accompanied Frances on a trip to Japan, as he can be seen smiling in one of the numerous photos she shared on Instagram.
Frances was formerly wedded to Isaiah Silva for less than two years before they separated in February 2016. She initiated the divorce process just a month later, and it was concluded in 2017.
Later on, Silva, aged 38, filed a lawsuit against Love, aged 59, accusing her of attempting to murder him in 2016 when she was trying to reclaim one of Kurt's guitars that had been gifted to Silva by Frances.

Silva claimed in court documents obtained by We in May 2018 that Britney Spears’ former manager, Sam Lutfi, and two others committed various crimes against him, including burglary, robbery, assault, sexual battery, kidnapping, and attempted murder, in his West Hollywood home. MTV Australia was informed by Love that Silva's lawsuit was deemed "baseless and nonsense" at the time.
According to a source, in an effort to resolve the situation, Frances handed over her late father's guitar to Isaiah, but unfortunately, this attempt proved unsuccessful. The source emphasized that Kurt would not have approved of this and Courtney will not tolerate any of it. Ultimately, the case reached a settlement in Los Angeles Superior Court in March 2022.
