Revolutionize Your Sims Family Legacy in The Sims 5

The Sims 5 must revitalize its core essence by reimagining pre-made families With a focus on compelling lore, these fundamental changes will reignite the game's charm and immerse players in a truly captivating experience

Pre-made families are essential to The Sims lore, offering a way to track the series' timeline across different games. However, The Sims 4 deviates from this timeline by taking place in an alternate dimension. As a result, beloved fan favorites look drastically different in The Sims 4, leading to a demand for significant changes in The Sims 5.

These changes have not been universally embraced by players. Some long for the return of familiar families, while others feel that certain Sims families lack interesting updates and require a reboot to maintain their appeal. These families require careful retcons moving forward, ensuring that they remain recognizable to players while also being restored to their original essence or given new compelling features.

The Sims 5 Needs to Return to Its Roots

In The Sims 2, the Caliente family became key suspects in the disappearance of the beloved townie, Bella Goth, making them the center of attention. Bella Goth's sudden disappearance, which involved different worlds and even aliens, played a significant role in The Sims 2's lore. However, in The Sims 4, the Caliente family disappoints fans as they have minimal to no connection with Bella at all. They have a new mother, Katrina, who never previously existed, and their relationship with Don Lothario is limited to simply living in the same household.

This discrepancy between The Sims 4's lore and gameplay is a recurring issue throughout the game. While the descriptions for Sim households and individuals explain relationships and rivalries, the actual in-game relationships are either neutral or nonexistent. The Caliente family suffers from this problem, and a complete overhaul is necessary to restore them to the devious and beloved family they were in The Sims 2. To do so, Katrina should be completely removed from the picture as she was never part of the family in the original timeline. Instead, Nighat Caliente should be reintroduced as the mother of Dina and Nina.

Lore in The Sims Needs to Matter Again

The Pancakes family, intended as the new tutorial family in The Sims 4, needs to be reimagined in order to avoid alienating fans. The issue lies in them replacing the beloved Newbie family, who have been synonymous with the tutorial experience since the original game. Players have developed a strong connection to the Newbies, having witnessed them as a married couple, their descendants, and even as teenagers. There is no valid reason to entirely replace them, especially considering they are still accessible through the official Gallery.

In The Sims 5, it would be more appropriate for the Pancakes family to coexist alongside the Newbies. However, some changes should be made to make the Pancakes more compelling. The implied conflict between Eliza and Bob needs to be incorporated into the gameplay, rather than disregarded. Bob, who is referred to as "the least interesting Sim in the world" by the Sims team, should live up to that title. Additionally, their initial relationship should reflect their unhappy marriage, as mentioned in their bio, rather than being above average.

The Sims 5 is in development.
