Director Steven Caple Jr. has hinted at big plans for the upcoming Transformers 8 film, following the crossover twist of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. In the latest installment, Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) is approached by Agent Burke (Michael Kelly), a government agent who reveals that he is part of G.I. Joe, teasing a potential crossover between the two franchises in the future. Caple Jr. has shared that the sequel will be even larger in scale, with the possibility of exploring other worlds and featuring different types of Transformers.
I find the concept of other planets inhabited by Transformers fascinating, which is why I chose to introduce the Maximals in the beginning of our film. This idea was inspired by the Japanese cartoons where Transformers exist on various planets. After being on Earth for so long, I believe it's time to explore new possibilities and take the war and battle to a different setting. It's an exciting mission that we're undertaking.
What To Expect From A Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Sequel
According to Caple Jr., the upcoming sequel to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will maintain its focus on the Transformers franchise, despite the inclusion of G.I. Joe characters. The film is expected to serve as a proper continuation of the previous installment, showcasing the immense potential of a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover, while also exploring new settings outside of Earth.
In the upcoming Transformers film, Unicron is set to be the main villain once again, as hinted in Rise of the Beasts. The Autobots, Maximals, and Joes may have to work together to prevent Unicron from devouring distant planets, which could open up opportunities to introduce a variety of new Transformers species and expand the franchise's mythology. In addition, the inclusion of G.I. Joe characters could provide a fresh perspective for audiences as they navigate this new world. While the focus remains on the Transformers universe, Caple Jr. may find ways to integrate G.I. Joe into the storyline.
