EA has announced the development of a Black Panther game for single players. Marvel has experienced significant success in gaming recently, and Black Panther has the potential to continue this trend.
Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games has been one of the most successful character-focused Marvel games to date. In August 2022, Spider-Man Remastered on PC surpassed God of War in the UK during its opening week. By May 2023, Sony reported that the game had sold over 1.5 million copies on PC, generating $52 million in revenue. With more single-player titles on the horizon, Marvel fans have high expectations. It will be interesting to see how EA performs, particularly considering the publisher's usual multi-platform approach.
EA has officially announced that an open-world, third-person Black Panther game is in development by their Seattle-based studio, Cliffhanger Games. The project will be led by Kevin Stephens, former studio head at Monolith Productions. Stephens expressed the studio's commitment to providing fans with an authentic Black Panther experience and emphasized giving players more control over their narrative in a story-driven video game. However, specific details regarding the game's release date and platforms have not yet been revealed by EA.
It should be noted that EA has signed an agreement with Marvel for three games, which includes the Iron Man game in addition to the Black Panther project. EA Motive is responsible for the Iron Man game, although little information about the title has been disclosed apart from the confirmation that development is underway. EA also has another Marvel project in progress, although the exact details of this third project have not been finalized according to rumors.
Black Panther, developed by Cliffhanger Games, is currently in the works.
