Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is bringing back all 16 multiplayer maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, a highly requested feature by fans.
The game will feature a new Tac-stance system that enables players to tilt their weapon, providing enhanced maneuverability at the expense of accuracy. An exciting teaser about the potential reappearance of the highly acclaimed ACR assault rifle from the original Modern Warfare 2 has further heightened fan anticipation and support for the game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have hinted at the addition of a popular assault rifle in a recent social media post. Set to release in the Fall, the game will continue the story from Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and offer a campaign with open combat missions, an open-world Zombies mode, and more.
One aspect of the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy that has fans excited is the inclusion of all 16 multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) remade in Modern Warfare 3. As the original game is highly regarded by many Call of Duty fans, this has been a long-awaited request, especially with the reboot. Another interesting feature revealed by Call of Duty is the new Tac-stance system, allowing players to toggle the firing mode while aiming down sights. This system tilts the weapon, providing more maneuverability but sacrificing some accuracy.
While fans of the original Modern Warfare 2 rejoice in the return of all 16 maps, there has been a desire for the return of a specific weapon from the original game. Dexerto brought attention to a tweet by Sledgehammer Games, the lead development studio for Modern Warfare 3, during the full game reveal. The tweet, which is the start of a thread discussing the new customization and movement features in Modern Warfare 3, includes an image of what appears to be a tan ACR in the new Tac-stance.
The ACR in Call of Duty is widely considered by many as the best weapon in the original Modern Warfare 2, but it has not been featured in a mainline Call of Duty game since then. There were reports that it would make a comeback in 2016's divisive sci-fi game Infinite Warfare, but unfortunately, it did not make it into the final lineup. Since last year's Modern Warfare 2 bundles, it has been confirmed that operators, maps, and, importantly, weapons will carry over to Modern Warfare 3. Some fans were unsure if the game would introduce new weapons. Now that this concern has been addressed and the possible return of the ACR has been teased, fan sentiment towards Modern Warfare 3 appears to be improving.
While the ACR tease may be exciting, its official name as the "ACR" has not been confirmed yet. Moreover, if it does turn out to be true, the weapon may not match the quality of its 2009 version. Nevertheless, with Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer's top-notch gunplay, there is a strong possibility that it could feel even more satisfying to use over ten years later. As the release date for Modern Warfare 3 approaches in November, it will be intriguing to see which other iconic weapons from Modern Warfare will be included in the game lineup.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S starting November 10th.
