Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer, has embarked on numerous comebacks throughout his extraordinary career, each adding to his iconic status Now, a battle for golf's essence has given him renewed purpose and a profound human connection

Tiger Woods has become renowned for his numerous comebacks throughout his remarkable golfing career, which have cemented their place as a crucial element in his legendary status.

However, following his catastrophic high-speed, single-car accident in the suburbs of Los Angeles in 2021, it was clear that a significant comeback would be improbable for Woods. His right leg was severely shattered, and he was fortunate that it remained connected to the rest of his body.

In 2022, mens professional golf faced a crisis when its top players were lured by lucrative guaranteed salaries. This created a divide, as Shipnuck put it, between the wealthy few and everyone else.

Amidst mounting tension and fierce debates, Woods emerged as the seasoned veteran, determined to defend the traditions of the game.

Fighting against injury, divorce, and scandal, Woods' headlines have shifted away from golf for those unfamiliar with his previous successes. Despite an 11-year gap since his last major win, he triumphed at the Masters in 2019.

Netflix is set to revolutionize the sporting world by introducing the groundbreaking Netflix Cup golf tournament, marking their first venture into live sports events. Sporting journalist Shipnuck highlighted Tiger Woods' solitary nature, describing him as an introvert who has been unfortunately unknown to younger generations due to his prolonged periods of injury.

However, everything started to change when Woods traveled to Delaware to facilitate a spontaneous gathering of players. During this meeting, they earnestly discussed and developed a fresh vision for the PGA Tour.

"I genuinely believe that this event has played a vital role in Tiger's journey towards recovery from his accident. It has enabled him to establish a stronger bond with his peers and experience their love and support. The significance of this cannot be emphasized enough for Tiger."

"LIV Golf may ultimately be credited for the emergence of a revitalized and more involved Tiger Woods! Shipnucks' latest book, titled "LIV And Let Die," vividly captures the turbulent journey of this breakaway tour."

Australian golf legend Greg Norman takes center stage as the main disruptor in the book, his unwavering ambition to revolutionize the sport reignited by the seemingly boundless resources of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. This gripping narrative is sprinkled with profanity to such an extent that it often feels reminiscent of a Quentin Tarantino film script rather than a book focusing on a traditionally refined sport.

Two out of the 62 expletives mentioned in the book were uttered by Brooks Koepka, a renowned five-time major champion who became part of the LIV Tour during the summer of June, 2022.

"I hold no regard for those privileged individuals at country clubs who speak negatively about me," Koepka stated. "Do they honestly believe I am concerned about their opinions? Do they truly think I care about the remarks made regarding my character? Despite having undergone three surgeries, should I really decline a staggering $130 million opportunity? I come from a humble background where I experienced scarcity."

Shipnuck acknowledges that the use of vivid language reflects the intense emotions from both perspectives. "I don't believe it is my responsibility to censor someone's words. If individuals are passionate and have a strong message to convey, I prefer to remain open-minded," Shipnuck affirms.

"The intensity of emotions reached such a level that it became deeply personal for the players, executives, and financial backers involved. It took a considerable amount of time to encourage individuals to express themselves in an honest manner, including the use of explicit language!"

According to Shipnuck, he had conversations with players, caddies, CEOs, agents, financiers, lawyers, fans, and spouses for his book. However, not everyone has responded positively to it.

Im a journalist

Expressing his thoughts on the X platform, formerly recognized as Twitter, Justin Thomas, a professional golfer with two major championship victories, shared his discontentment with the actions of @AlanShipnuck, stating, "I would like to represent numerous tour players and convey that we are tired of his conduct."

"Promote positivity and uplifting stories to contribute to the growth of the game of golf, rather than attempting to profit by criticizing individuals, which only undermines trust and spreads misinformation. It is absurd."

In his defense, Shipnuck stated to CNN that he is a journalist, not a publicist.

Shipnuck emphasizes that his primary responsibility is to the readers, rather than the players. The readers rely on him to provide them with the truth and unveil the actual occurrences taking place behind the scenes. By doing so, Shipnuck presents an alternative perspective to what the players desire to believe, what they have been informed by their leadership, and what aligns with their own interests. Consequently, the players occasionally become displeased with this revelation. However, Shipnuck firmly believes that this discontent is their concern, not his.

The narrative of the content fragment is focused on loyalty, betrayal, vengeance, and greed, but it contains more complexity than initially perceived. Rory McIlroy was widely respected for his unwavering support of the PGA Tour, which garnered him admiration from many. However, Shipnuck subtly suggests that the situation may not have been as straightforward as it seemed.

Additionally, it is possible that the supposed villains had hidden complexities beyond initial perception.

According to Shipnuck, dismissing their actions as merely selling out for money oversimplifies the situation. While it is evident that financial gain played a role, there were other factors at play.

Shipnuck reveals that Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 US Open champion and a talented young player, was a notable addition to LIV. Within the book, a story unfolds, shedding light on DeChambeau's perception of being underestimated by his fellow PGA Tour players. Shipnuck describes the anguish in DeChambeau's voice as he passionately expresses his emotions on the matter.

After joining the LIV Tour, DeChambeau instantly took up the role of a team captain, showcasing his leadership skills.

Patrick Reed and Sergio García had become unpopular amongst their fellow golfers and were engaged in disputes with the PGA Tour leadership. LIV presented a positive change as it focuses on player satisfaction and has a distinct mindset.

Being recognized as the most intelligent individual was crucial for Phil Mickelson. Although financial gain was undoubtedly a motivator for all, there were other factors involved. The virtuous individuals often possess a hint of darkness, while the antagonistic ones typically have redeeming qualities.

Ultimately, for all the bitterness and acrimony, it could be that all the players will end up on the same side.

Exactly one year after playing its first tournament in London, LIV, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan seized everyone's attention by announcing a surprise truce and resolution of their lawsuits. Although the specifics are still being finalized, they revealed their plans to join forces with the European Tour, forming an entity that would bring unity to the game.

"They all saw their salaries double and triple," Shipnuck explained. "Phil Mickelson, in particular, expressed his dissatisfaction with the PGA Tour hoarding a substantial amount of money that rightfully belonged to the players. It's safe to say that he has been proven right in this aspect."

Moreover, the fans stood to benefit from this development.

According to Shipnuck, if a schedule can be created incorporating the top twelve PGA Tour events, the best five or six on the European tour, and two or three LIV events in a logical and year-round manner, with assured participation from all the best players, it would greatly benefit golf fans. Additionally, assuming the Saudis continue to be part of the project, it would also be advantageous for them.

It would be a remarkable achievement for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to attain a prominent position in a major international sport and wield considerable power and influence in the western world, despite the accusations surrounding their alleged involvement in 9/11, the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, and their unfavorable human rights record. Bin Salman has previously disregarded any concerns regarding Saudi Arabia's involvement in sport, labeling it as "sportswashing."

During the initial year of LIV, players were inundated with inquiries regarding Khashoggi, Mohammad Bin Salman, and the Saudi government's violations of human rights against its own people. However, as time went on, these questions gradually faded away due to a sense of weariness.

This explains why sportswashing is favored by certain malicious individuals, as it gradually normalizes these nations over time.

"Over time, resistance gradually diminishes and a sense of acceptance emerges, acknowledging their inclusion in professional sports or the global economy. Perhaps, they even become our allies."

CNN has contacted Woods, McIroy, Reed, and Garcia for their comments.
