Revenant Hill, the spiritual successor to indie hit Night In The Woods, has halted development as stated today by the game's developer. The Glory Society's official X account released a detailed announcement confirming the cancellation, which highlighted several factors behind this decision. One of the reasons mentioned was that two team members had to leave the project due to "serious health issues."
"Considering the constraints of schedules, budgets, and the challenging task of revamping the entire project," the announcement stated, "the team has mutually agreed to pause operations. Essentially, this marks the conclusion of the Revenant Hill development."
The decision is labeled as a "definite direction," made in the interest of the team's "well-being." The statement further asserts that the studio itself "served as a project," and each team member takes pride in their involvement."
Revenant Hill was originally designed as a game set during the late 1910s, immersing players in the experience of Twigs, a cat compelled to reside in a damp log following the destruction of his barn. According to the official PlayStation Blog post following its initial announcement, players would engage in activities such as cultivating crops for sale in a concealed market, deciphering the desires of spectral beings, and organizing increasingly extravagant gatherings for supernatural entities without prescribed monikers.

1. As a passionate fan of Night in the Woods, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Revenant Hill. The game looked like it would be a worthy successor to the original, with its charming art style, intriguing premise, and lovable characters. I am deeply saddened by the news that the game has been canceled.
2. I understand that the developers had to make a difficult decision, and I respect their choice to prioritize their health and well-being. However, I can't help but feel disappointed that I won't get to experience the world of Revenant Hill. I hope that the developers will be able to find success in their future endeavors, and I will be keeping an eye out for their next project.
