Mozilla releases a major update for Firefox every four weeks, ensuring a continuous flow of enhancements for the open-source web browser. Today, Firefox 119 will begin its rollout, offering an updated Firefox View, an improved PDF viewer, security fixes, and more.

One of the notable changes in Firefox 119 is the significant revamp of Firefox View. This feature, accessible through the Firefox button on the tab bar, assists users in returning to previously visited pages and recently closed tabs. Now, Firefox View displays all open tabs from all windows. Additionally, if you have synchronized your tabs with other devices logged into the same Mozilla account (formerly known as Firefox accounts), all tabs from your other devices will also appear. Furthermore, the browsing history is now included in Firefox View and can be sorted either by date or by site.

In Firefox 119, there is a new feature that allows you to easily migrate data from Google Chrome to Firefox. This feature includes the ability to import select extensions into Firefox. It is important to note that instead of copying the extensions and their data, Mozilla has a database of Chrome extensions and their Firefox equivalents. When you migrate, Firefox will automatically install any matching results.

Additionally, Mozilla has made updates to the PDF viewer in Firefox. Previously, you were able to add text and drawings when editing PDFs, which was useful for signing documents. Now, you can also add images to PDFs. Firefox even provides the option to add alt text to images, ensuring that the PDF remains accessible to individuals using screen readers or other accessibility tools.

How to Update Firefox

Firefox 119 brings several noteworthy security enhancements. One of them is the introduction of Encrypted Client Hello (ECH), a feature that significantly enhances encryption in TLS connections. Furthermore, the Total Cookie Protection functionality of the browser has been extended to include blob URLs, effectively eliminating a potential avenue for third-party tracking. Lastly, to minimize fingerprinting risks, the usage of numerous system fonts has now been restricted.

Firefox updates will be installed automatically on your computer, phone, or tablet when they become available. To instantly check for and install updates, click on the menu icon located at the top-right of the browser toolbar and choose "About Firefox."

You can obtain Firefox by visiting Mozilla's official website or by downloading it from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Microsoft Store.
