Koei Tecmo has officially announced a new mobile action RPG based on the popular Dynasty Warriors franchise. Known for its hack-and-slash gameplay set in the historical Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history, Dynasty Warriors has been a recognizable series for Koei Tecmo since its debut on the PS1 in 1997. With nine main-series numbered entries and various enhanced versions, such as Xtreme Legends and Empires, the franchise has now expanded to mobile gaming.
While this is not Koei Tecmo's first venture into the mobile market for Dynasty Warriors, as there have been previous spinoffs and ports for handheld consoles like the PSP, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance, the upcoming Dynasty Warriors M will bring the chaotic action of the series to mobile platforms once again.
Koei Tecmo recently unveiled Dynasty Warriors M, a mobile spinoff of the popular franchise. This game is based on the latest installment, Dynasty Warriors 9. Teaming up with renowned mobile game developer Nexon, Koei Tecmo brings together the franchise's signature hack-and-slash combat with captivating city management gameplay. While Dynasty Warriors M will offer in-game purchases for various items, it differentiates itself from other titles like Genshin Impact by not featuring a gacha system. Following its soft launch in select southeast Asian regions, the game is poised for a worldwide release in the near future.
The mobile version of Dynasty Warriors expands the long-running franchise by collaborating with different studios to create Warriors games based on various IPs. Koei Tecmo has previously partnered with Nintendo on the Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors franchises, as well as developed anime-themed Dynasty Warriors spinoffs featuring One Piece and Berserk. Expected to be released worldwide this winter, Dynasty Warriors M aims to deliver the same chaotic and action-packed gameplay that fans love on mobile devices. It joins a lineup of other games released by Koei Tecmo in 2023, including the Monster Hunter-like Wild Hearts, Fate/Samurai Remnant based on the popular Fate franchise, and the Japan exclusive mobile game Dragon Quest Champions.
Dynasty Warriors M is expected to release in Winter 2023 for mobile devices.
