Revamped and Enhanced: Unveiling Exciting New Features of qBittorrent 46!

qBittorrent 46 enhances its torrent client with fresh features while discontinuing support for Windows 7 and 8, ensuring improved performance and security

qBittorrent 4.6, a renowned BitTorrent client, is widely used across Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms. The recent release, Bittorrent 4.6, brings about several beneficial improvements while discontinuing support for older Windows versions.

Although qBittorrent 4.6 does not entail a complete revamp of the overall user experience, it incorporates numerous smaller changes that contribute to an impressive release. Notably, it introduces experimental support for Bittorent over I2P, commonly referred to as "the Invisible Internet." This feature aims to enhance anonymity in torrenting by bypassing IP addresses and specific networking ports. Additionally, a few new settings are now available, including the socket buffer size and maximum torrent file size.

Additionally, interface enhancements have been implemented. The dialogs for "Watched folder options" and "Automated RSS downloader" have undergone a complete redesign, while a new menu for editing torrent tags has been introduced. An added convenience is the ability to directly modify the default theme within qBittorrent.

Alongside these improvements, the web interface has also been enhanced. Notable enhancements include improved synchronization, the ability to rename multiple files simultaneously, a new option to add items to the top of the queue, and various helpful fixes. The developers have emphasized the importance of changing the default login credentials when making the torrent server accessible online, due to reported instances of unauthorized access. In future releases of qBittorrent, default credentials will be eliminated entirely, requiring users to create a unique username and password when enabling the web interface.

This release drops support for Windows 7 and Windows 8, requiring Windows 10 or later instead. The newer Qt5 framework, which recent versions of qBittorrent are built around, is incompatible with older Windows versions. This aligns with the current trend of software, such as Google Chrome, Plex Media Server, and Google Drive, discontinuing support for Windows 7 and 8. Valve has also announced that Steam will no longer function on Windows 7 and 8 starting in 2024.

To download qBittorent 4.6, visit the official website. It will soon be available through package managers, or may already be. It is compatible with recent Linux distributions, Windows 10 and 11, and macOS 10.15 Catalina or later. However, the download page cautions that macOS is currently not well supported, so Mac owners may prefer using Transmission instead.
