The Librarians: The Next Chapter is bringing back an original cast member. Running from 2014 to 2018 on TNT, and based on the novels of the same name by David Titcher, the original Librarians was developed for TV by John Rogers. The story centered on the titular group, an ancient organization dedicated to protecting the world from a secret reality hidden from view. In May 2023, it was announced that The CW would be developing a spinoff based on The Librarians.
Deadline now confirms that Christian Kane is set to reprise the role of Jacob Stone in The Librarians: The Next Chapter. Kane, known for his roles on Leverage and Angel as a reoccurring villain, will be part of the upcoming fantasy adventure show in a recurring capacity. In the original, Kane was a main cast member and appeared in all four seasons.

A Librarian from the past finds himself stuck in the present after time-traveling. Upon returning to his castle, he discovers it has been turned into a museum. Inadvertently, he unleashes magic that spreads across the continent. To clean up his mess, he is joined by a new team, forming a fresh group of Librarians. The new series is led by original executive producer Dean Devlin, who serves as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Noah Wyle, a familiar face from the original series, also joins as an executive producer.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter has chosen Jessica Green, known for her role in Air, to play the role of Charlie Cornwall, the Guardian. After being turned down by the Library for the Guardian position, Charlie found herself at a low point in her life. However, she was given the opportunity to become a special guardian on a trial basis. With her military training, if Charlie can prove herself and handle the responsibilities, she may secure a permanent position.
In the spinoff, Christian Kane's character Jacob, who has been a guardian for over a decade, takes on the role of mentoring Charlie. This connection between the past show and The Librarians: The Next Chapter opens up the possibility of seeing familiar faces making guest appearances. As of now, no further details about additional cast members have been revealed.
The Librarians is available to stream on Freevee, Hoopla, and Prue Flix.

Editor's P/S:
I am excited to hear that Christian Kane will be reprising his role as Jacob Stone in "The Librarians: The Next Chapter." Kane was a fan favorite in the original series, and his return is sure to please longtime viewers. I am also intrigued by the premise of the spinoff, which will see the new team of Librarians cleaning up a mess created by a time-traveling Librarian. The show has the potential to be both fun and exciting, and I am looking forward to seeing what the new season has in store.
However, I am a bit concerned that the spinoff will not be able to live up to the original series. The Librarians was a unique and charming show, and it will be difficult to recapture that magic. I hope that the showrunners are able to find a way to balance the old and the new, and create a show that is both satisfying to fans of the original and appealing to new viewers.
