Re:Monster light novels likely to see anime adaptation premiere sometime in 2024
The Re:Monster series gained popularity primarily through its light novel adaptation. However, its origins trace back to a web novel that was initially published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website by Kanekiru. Alongside the novels, the franchise has also inspired a smartphone game set within the same universe, although it diverges from the mainline series' narrative.Expand Tweet
The Re:Monster light novel series announced the official release via a teaser promotional video. The 45-second video provides a glimpse into the series' setting, atmosphere, and characters. It also reveals that Gob-Rou will be voiced by Takuya Sato, the series' protagonist.
In addition to the anime series announcement, Studio DEEN has been assigned the task of animating the series, with GENCO overseeing the production. At present, no further cast or staff members have been revealed, but updates are expected in the coming months.
The original web novel series, featuring illustrations by Yamaada, was first published by AlphaPolis in 2012, with the ninth volume being released in 2017. Additionally, AlphaPolis continues to serialize Kobayakawa's ongoing manga adaptation on its website every month, and the eagerly awaited 10th compiled book volume in Japanese will be available this Friday.
There is also a manga adaptation of the series, illustrated by Haruyoshi Kobayakawa. Kobayakawa even created a celebratory illustration for the announcement of the anime. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version of the manga adaptation and plans to release the seventh volume on October 31. The manga follows the story of Tomokui Kanata, who after suffering an early death, is reborn into a world of swords and magic as a lowly goblin named "Rou." Determined to thrive in this new world, Rou uses his newfound physical abilities and past memories to consume other creatures and gain their strengths and powers.
