Woniya Thibeault, the first and only female winner of Alone, is expecting her first baby with boyfriend Taylor Donovan.

"Excited for the next adventure!" Thibeault, aged 47, shared the exciting news with We Magazine. "I was completely taken aback and filled with joy to discover, at the age of 47 when I least expected it, that I was pregnant with a healthy little one."

Thibeault made her debut on the reality TV show Alone in 2019, participating in its sixth season. She achieved a remarkable second place, with Jordan Jonas emerging as the winner, after enduring 73 days on her own. Returning in 2022 for the spinoff series Alone: Frozen, set in Labrador, Canada, Thibeault asserted her dominance by winning the season, making her the first and only female champion in the show's history.

Thibeault told Us that she credits the show in part with helping her conceive her child.

"In a sense, Alone brought me my baby," she expressed. "The profound healing I encountered throughout my two personal journeys, the incredible sense of empowerment and invincibility, even enduring two extended and intense cleanses with minimal calories and solely consuming wild foods. I genuinely believe that all of these factors contributed to my ability to remain strong, healthy, and fertile well into my late 40s."

During the promotion of her memoir, Never Alone, earlier this year, Thibeault began to view her book as her own child, as she had accepted that the prospect of becoming a mother had slipped away. "I even recounted a tale on stage at The Moth, sharing how nearly starving in the Canadian wilderness allowed me to find inner peace and let go of my sorrow over not having children," she reminisced. "Little did I know, even as I stood on that stage recounting that story, a tiny baby was already beginning to develop in my womb."

In her debut appearance on Alone, Thibeault found motivation in envisioning a future where winning the show's substantial $500,000 prize would enable her to start a family. Gradually, though, the grueling experience compelled her to accept the possibility that motherhood might elude her.

“The 73 days I spent in solitude in the Arctic wilderness had a profound impact on me, leading me to finally find peace with the idea of not having children,” she recalled. “When I found out I was the runner-up of the season, falling just short of victory, I felt ecstatic, not disappointed.”

Now, she eagerly anticipates her next journey, one that doesn't involve living alone in the Arctic. "Since winning Alone, people have constantly asked me, 'What's your next adventure, Woniya?'" Thibeault shared. "I am overjoyed to finally be able to answer them, 'Becoming a mother at 48.'"
