In episode 2, after identifying Dan Gheesling and Phaedra Parks as traitors in episode 1, they made their first move by murdering Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio. The Challenge star expressed no surprise at being the first one taken out, unaware that the former Big Brother winner and Real Housewives of Atlanta star were responsible for the kill.
During a joint interview with the couple, Bananas speculated, "Part of me was thinking it could have been Marcus [Jordan] and Larsa [Pippen]." The couple was shocked by his admission. He added, "Because I proposed that idea to you guys in the car, I was like, 'What if it’s one of you and then you murdered the other one?' So I was thinking, 'Oh, maybe I was onto something and they killed me.' I was questioning everyone, [even host] Alan Cummings. I was like, 'Alan probably f–king murdered me for stealing his gold bar.' So I didn’t know at the time. They murdered me right away and they were asking me in my exit interviews, 'Do you have any idea who did this?' And I’m like, 'I have not a clue.'"
Bananas also mentioned that the traitors "gave me more credit than I deserve."
Bananas’ Elimiaiton
"Yes, I excel in competition shows, but this is an entirely different style of show," he reasoned. "I believe the other contestants were not necessarily intimidated by my competitive skills, but rather by my ability to command attention on camera and bring entertainment value. Because they lacked these qualities, they sought to eliminate anyone who did."
“I have no regrets about my actions,” Bananas declared. “Some people ask, ‘Do you wish you had been more cautious?’ But I say, ‘I was going home no matter what.’ I could have entered that castle, sat in the corner, and read the Bible the entire time, and I still would have been the first to leave,” Bananas told We. “So no, I made the decision to go in, and I thought, ‘If I’m going down, I want to go down in flames.’”

What were his fellow MTV stars' reactions to his departure? "I wasn't upset about it," said Trishelle Cannatella. "CT and Bananas and I don't have the greatest history."
Chris “CT” Tamburello expressed disappointment in losing Bananas early, calling it "a shame for the show in general."
“I thought he would bring a lot of excitement to the show. He would have added a new dimension to the dynamics,” he said. “In our world of The Challenge, it’s always about competing against each other. But outside of that, I was really looking forward to the opportunity to work with him and Trishelle for once. .... I can only imagine the potential prize money we could have won if he had stayed [longer].”
Peppermint vs. Trishelle
A heated argument about fashion and a slip of the tongue from the RuPaul’s Drag Race star, who mistakenly referred to herself as a traitor, resulted in tension with the Real World alum Trishelle, who incorrectly claimed that Peppermint admitted to being a traitor.

“I made a mistake with my words. I wasn't a traitor, and anyone who watched the episode knows that. It was just a slip-up. I felt backed into a corner," Peppermint explained to Us. "I was voted the most popular player in the game, but that day, no one spoke to me. It was like everyone was giving me the cold shoulder, which was a big clue. It made it really hard for me to have a conversation with anyone. I felt abandoned and people were telling me it was over because of what Trishelle said. They didn't want to listen to me or connect with me, and that was really tough in the early moments of the game."
Peppermint expressed her feelings, saying, "I believe she intentionally undermined me and set me up for failure, but that's just how it goes. I had hoped she wasn't loyal."
Trishelle told Us that she made an effort to connect with Peppermint, saying, "I tried to form a connection with Peppermint, but I felt like she was keeping her cards close to her chest, which is okay. In other competition games I've played, if someone doesn't want to open up, it raises red flags. So I picked up on some strange vibes."

Parvati’s Recruitment
When Dan and Phaedra were given the chance to add another traitor to their team, they tapped the former Survivor winner.
When asked why he opted to recruit Parvati over fellow Big Brother winner Janelle, Dan teased, “You don’t know that it doesn’t happen [down the line].”

Dan Gheesling said he recruited Parvati early because she had some buzz around her and he wanted to create a show that fans would enjoy. He was excited but also nervous about working with her because he knew how dangerous she could be. He described her as the female version of himself, someone you trust but could also stab you at any moment. It was scary at times, but he wanted to bring her in and see if they could find a way to work together.
