Cara Maria Sorbello and her boyfriend Paulie Calafiore are prepared for their upcoming challenge, which also involves moving on from the "mistress" label that Sorbello had given herself. "We have a strong desire to have children and get married," said Calafiore, 34, during an exclusive interview with We on Tuesday, June 27. Sorbello, 37, was by his side during the conversation.
Sorbello admitted that, despite agreeing with her partner, she initially had reservations about the idea of getting married. Her perspective changed after dating Calafiore in the summer of 2018, as she reflected on the past five years and how it had shaped her. Prior to Calafiore, she had been involved in damaging and unhealthy relationships that influenced her views on marriage. In the past, she had adamantly declared that she would never marry or have children.
Sorbello admitted, "From the very beginning, I made it clear to him that I would be his mistress if he wanted to get married, but I personally had no intention of ever marrying."
Recalling his girlfriend's previous statement, Calafiore shared, "During our meet and greets, she would say, 'I'm content being the mistress.' And I would be like, 'But we're in a relationship!'"

Sorbello acknowledged her stubbornness at the beginning of her relationship with the fellow reality star as a result of the past hardships she had endured. However, she has since shifted her perspective and is now eager to move forward.
Expressing her newfound sentiment, Sorbello stated, "I have never said this before, but I absolutely would love to marry [Paulie]. He is the person I envision spending the rest of my life with." This declaration came during a joint interview, where she openly professed her love and addressed her partner by saying, "I wholeheartedly love you. I am completely certain that I would marry you without hesitation. You are my best friend."
Calafiore mentioned that despite his brother's recent engagement and his sister giving birth to a baby, their families do not exert any "pressure" on when they will progress to the next stage. He expressed that both within their families and overall, people perceive them as "unconventional children." Calafiore believes that others anticipate them surprising everyone by suddenly announcing, "Hey guys, we just got married."
Sorbello mentioned that her Sicilian father really wants her to have a child who would become a race car driver. This has led to discussions about kids in her relationship with Calafiore. Although she previously had no interest in becoming a mother, being with Calafiore has changed her perspective.
She now envisions having a few soccer-playing boys one day, despite her previous reservations about pregnancy. She expresses how deeply committed she is to her partner, as it has influenced her openness to having children. She acknowledges that not everyone understands the significance of this shift in mindset.
Her partner, on the other hand, comprehended the situation fully and shared with Us, "It's quite significant."
Calafiore and Sorbello crossed paths in 2018 while participating in The Challenge: Final Reckoning. Although they didn't engage in a romantic relationship during the show, they did develop a connection that led to Calafiore ending his relationship with his then-girlfriend, Bachelor alum Danielle Maltby.
Sorbello and Calafiore briefly ended their relationship in late 2018 when Sorbello discovered that Calafiore was still communicating with Maltby, who is now 37 years old. The MTV stars decided to give their romance another shot in early 2019 and have been in a relationship ever since.
