Asta’s Anti-magic and nine other overpowered spells across the Black Clover series, ranked
10. Anti-magic (Asta)

There is an argument that Asta’s Anti-magic may not be classified as a spell at all, which is why it is listed last here. It has the potential to not be considered a spell per se. Additionally, while anti-magic has the ability to negate any spell regardless of its power, making it an incredibly strong ability, its effectiveness is limited by the skill of its user. For instance, if Asta had been fighting Dante of the Dark Triad at the beginning of the series, it is likely that he would have been overpowered and unable to fully utilize his anti-magic.
9. Never Never Land (Yuno Grinberryall)
Asta's ability has unquestionably played a significant role in his success throughout the Black Clover series. It serves as a potent counter to almost every spell, allowing him to make considerable progress.
Yuno's character progression in Black Clover has undeniably been swift, lacking in substantial development. Nevertheless, he has undeniably evolved into one of the series' most formidable characters, with Never Never Land possibly being his most potent spell yet in the manga.
8. Red Thread of Fate (Vanessa)
Yuno demonstrates his Never Never Land ability during the invasion of Lucius Zogratis, using his mastery of both Wind and Star Magic to strengthen his allies and weaken his enemies. This proves to be a crucial advantage for the Clover Kingdom in the current arc and showcases the significant growth Yuno has undergone throughout the series, shaping him into the formidable Magic Knight he is today.

Some argue that Black Clover author Yuki Tabata intentionally sidelined Vanessa as the story progressed, theorizing that her Red Thread of Fate spell was simply too potent in the grand scheme of things. This ability allowed the Black Bulls members to potentially control destiny itself and rewind time until the outcome was more favorable to Vanessa.
7. Master of Valhalla (Rill Boismortier)
Regardless of Tabata's attempt to restrict this spell by imposing a range limit on Vanessa, allowing those with sufficient Mana to partially resist it, it remains a highly potent spell that could have posed a far greater threat if fully unleashed.

The Magic Knight Captain Rill Boismortier stands out not only as one of the most powerful characters in the series but also for his incredibly versatile Paint Magic. With the only real limitations being his creativity and mental state at the time of painting, Rill has the potential to accomplish almost anything. Similar to Vanessa’s previous spell, his power had to be toned down due to its significant impact.
6. Puppet Bloodflow (Witch Queen)
Rill’s “Masterpiece” Spell in Black Clover
The extent of Rill’s spells’ power in Black Clover is hard to measure, but his “Master of Valhalla” is considered his greatest creation. This massively powerful ability proved to be invaluable during the Dark Triad arc, especially in the battle against Megicula and Vanica.

The Witch Queen's role in Black Clover was initially minor, primarily limited to fixing Asta's arms at one point in the series. However, this brief arc effectively showcased her immense power. Among her arsenal of spells, Puppet Bloodflow undoubtedly stands out as the most formidable.
5. Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash (Sukehiro Yami)
The Witch Queen's ability to manipulate people's blood and control their actions is incredibly overpowered. Additionally, Vanessa had to use her Red Thread of Fate spell, which felt like a deus ex machina turned into magic, to prevent Asta from harming the Black Bulls while he was under the Queen's control.
Yami epitomizes the essence of cool in Black Clover, and he's also incredibly powerful, with this particular move possibly being his ultimate weapon. While his Death Thrust against Dante could have been a strong contender, there's no denying that the Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash is truly something special in terms of spells in this series.
4. Arrows of Judgment (Lich/Patolli)
This attack has the ability to slice through dimensions, making it sufficiently overpowered to earn a spot on this list. Additionally, although it appeared in a filler arc in the Studio Pierrot anime adaptation, Yami demonstrated the ability to cut through Dorothy's Dream Realm magic, showcasing the immense power of this spell.

This spell was utilized by Licht/Patolli during Black Clover's highly popular Elf arc, with the aim of targeting multiple individuals simultaneously. It was employed as a strategic advantage against Julius Novachrono during their confrontation, compelling the Wizard King to prioritize the protection of his people.
3. Archangel Shootdown (Langris)
This spell possesses an incredible amount of power, capable of potentially annihilating the entire Clover Kingdom if it were not for Julius' timely intervention. The fact that even someone as formidable as Julius had to step in to halt its devastation speaks volumes about its sheer potency. A spell of this magnitude, which can only be thwarted by a Wizard King-level character, unquestionably deserves its place on this list.
Underrated in Black Clover, Langris possesses a powerful magic type similar to Vanessa and other characters, leading to his sidelining by Tabata to maintain story interest. Despite not being a beloved character, his Archangel Shootdown spell remains one of the most overpowered in the series.
2. Time spells in general (Julius Novachrono)
Langris' Archangel Shootdown possesses the capability to annul anything it comes into contact with, rendering it an incredibly potent spell that will likely not have significant consequences in the storyline due to the ease with which it can subdue adversaries. Some fans of anime have drawn parallels between this and Okuyasu Nijimura's The Hand Stand from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, as both abilities share a striking similarity and both characters had to be weakened for the sake of the plot.

It's not quite fair to condense all of Julius' Time Magic abilities into one category, but it really emphasizes just how incredibly strong he was at his prime. Time manipulation is inherently a potent ability, as it enables the user to avoid defeat in virtually any situation.
Julius has the ability to manipulate time, allowing him to travel back in time, speed it up, pause it, and even regress to a younger age in order to evade death. These extraordinary capabilities would almost guarantee his victory in the series, which is why Tabata chose to deage him and strip him of his powers for most of the story. However, there is another important reason for this decision.
1. Soul manipulation (Lucius Zogratis)
The portrayal of Lucius Zogratis in the Black Clover manga, as revealed in a tweet by @minaxaArt, was truly captivating.
The revelation of Julius Novachrono and Lucius Zogratis sharing a body stands as one of the most pivotal moments in Black Clover's history, showcasing Tabata's mastery as a storyteller. Notably, Lucius possesses the formidable ability of Soul Magic, allowing him to wield incredible power by manipulating the souls of others.
Final thoughts
Lucius's ability to reshape people's souls is so powerful that even demons can be purified, characters like Sister Lily can pledge their allegiance to him, and entirely new individuals can be created. This spell is extraordinary in its strength, as it goes beyond mere damage and instead erases the target's sense of self, transforming them into whatever Lucius desires.
Black Clover boasts an array of potent spells, with some possibly deserving a spot on this list. It's undeniable that author Yuki Tabata has delved into a diverse range of concepts, some of which are so formidable that they could have brought the manga to a premature end if given more attention.
Editor's P/S
As a hard fan of Black Clover, I am thrilled to see the ranking of the top 10 unstoppable spells in the series. The diversity and power of these spells truly showcase the creativity and imagination of the author, Yuki Tabata. Each spell possesses unique abilities and has played a pivotal role in shaping the dynamic world of Black Clover.
Among the spells mentioned, Asta's Anti-magic stands out as a game-changer. Its ability to negate any spell, regardless of its power, makes it an incredibly formidable force. However, as the article suggests, its effectiveness is limited by the skill of its user. Asta's growth and mastery over anti-magic have been a key aspect of his character development, and it will be exciting to see how he continues to harness its potential in future battles.
