A player of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 recorded a humorous incident where thugs approached Spider-Man for a fight, but quickly changed their minds and drove away in another car. Since its release in October, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has received widespread acclaim from both critics and fans, selling a staggering 2.5 million copies within 24 hours of its launch, making it the fastest-selling game from PlayStation Studios. However, despite its success, the game is not without occasional glitches and visual bugs that impact the overall experience. One peculiar occurrence involves Miles, the main character, transforming into a white cube while swinging through New York City. This odd and amusing bug seems to happen when players switch suits and the game fails to properly load the new outfit. As a result, Miles becomes mostly invisible, except for a white cube shape that bounces and moves around, even during combat and while carrying non-playable characters. The enemy's artificial intelligence also occasionally behaves unexpectedly, as demonstrated in this instance while exploring New York.
AmazonMason captured a peculiar encounter with a group of street thugs on video. While completing a city alert mission in the vast New York City of Spider-Man 2, a fresh batch of enemies arrived in a car and deliberately struck Spider-Man. Surprisingly, instead of engaging in combat, the foes swiftly passed by an unaffected Peter Parker, entered another nearby vehicle, and promptly drove away, as if nothing had occurred.
Commenters attempted to decipher the reasoning behind the evasive actions of these fleeing enemies. One user suggested that they might have observed the Symbiote Surge bar being full and thus decided to make a hasty escape. Others speculated that since the initial attempt to ram Spider-Man with the car had proven unsuccessful, the enemies opted to flee while they had the chance. Another player, going by the username chippy-triforce, shared a similarly odd incident during a crime alert in Spider-Man 2. After pursuing criminals in a vehicle, the villains suddenly merged into regular traffic, slowed down, and the alert notification disappeared. These occurrences seem to indicate the presence of certain artificial intelligence glitches within these open world activities.
While not a glitch or bug, Insomniac faced controversy when players discovered that the wrong flag was displayed in the Morales household. The flag shown in the house was that of Cuba instead of Puerto Rico, which represents Rio and Miles' heritage. Insomniac acknowledged their mistake and recently released an update for Spider-Man 2 that rectified the incorrect instances. As a result, the flag is now rightfully that of Puerto Rico.
