Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to launch in 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, as announced by Level 5. The company has also released an updated trailer showcasing the gameplay and mechanics of the game.
Taking place in Steam Bison, the game is set one year after the events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. This new location boasts highly advanced steam engine technology that even surpasses that of London. A mysterious incident prompts Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke, to embark on a new journey in this intriguing setting.
The trailer features Luke and Professor Layton attempting to solve a puzzle centered around a large building with multiple doors, each with unique window shapes and card suite symbols. As they work through their thought process, the two engage in a monologue while deciding which door to enter.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is the first mainline game in the series since 2017's Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy for Nintendo 3DS. The game was recently announced during a Nintendo Direct earlier this year.
Level 5 also revealed that its other games, such as Megaton Musashi: Wired, Fantasy Life i: The Girl who Steals Time, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, and Decapolice, have been postponed until 2024.
