Nearly 50 pieces of art by Italian sculptor Umberto Mastroianni were stolen from an exhibition near Lake Garda, Italy. The Vittoriale degli Italiani estate, the host of the exhibition, informed CNN about the theft.
A spokesperson for Vittoriale degli Italiani revealed that forty-nine pieces of art, valued at €1.2 million (over $1.3 million USD), were taken during the incident on Wednesday night.
One of the pieces, titled "Uomo/Donna" (Man/Woman), was discovered within the exhibition complex's premises, while the whereabouts of the other 48 pieces remain unknown, according to a spokesperson for the estate as reported by CNN.
The exhibition, named "Like a warm, flowing gold," debuted at the end of December and was set to conclude on Friday.
Investigations into the theft are ongoing, the spokesperson added.

“Our alarm systems are very extensive and already of the highest level, we were evidently hit by a highly specialized gang,” Guerri said, according to the AFP.
