A fan poster depicting Chris Pratt's Star-Lord has surfaced, hinting at the character's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The conclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 saw Star-Lord and the original Guardians parting ways, leaving Rocket Raccoon to take over as captain and a new cosmic team to be introduced in the post-credits scenes. Although Star-Lord visited Earth to see his grandfather, the second post-credits scene teased his eventual comeback with the phrase "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return." Digital artist @agtdesign took to Instagram to create a stunning image of Pratt's character, potentially teasing his first solo project.
A standalone film featuring Pratt's character in the MCU would be a fascinating decision and a fitting follow-up to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's cliffhanger ending. Additionally, a Disney+ series centered on Star-Lord would also be a satisfying payoff.
What Is Next For Star-Lord In The MCU?
At the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter Quill was a mere shadow of his former self, grieving over Gamora's death and the alternate version of his beloved disappearing into the MCU. However, when Rocket sustains injuries, Peter snaps out of his despair and demonstrates the extent of his personal growth throughout his time in the MCU. While still retaining his charismatic and sarcastic personality, Star-Lord has transformed into a seasoned leader and a ruthless warrior.
Peter's return to Earth in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 reunites him with his emotional grandfather, marking a possible hiatus for the character. However, Star-Lord's journey in the MCU is far from complete. While he may not return to Rocket's new Guardians of the Galaxy team, Pratt's confirmation of future appearances in the franchise makes his participation in upcoming Avengers films, such as The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, highly probable. Additionally, Star-Lord's experience would be invaluable against threats such as Kang the Conqueror and the Council of Kangs. There is also potential for Pratt to headline his own movie or Disney+ series based on the Legendary Star-Lord comic, which features Quill in cosmic adventures and a romance with X-Men's Kitty Pride, who is yet to be introduced in the MCU. Clearly, Star-Lord's narrative in the MCU is far from over.
