Upon its initial reveal in 2020, Pragmata generated a great deal of excitement among players. The sci-fi aesthetic of the announcement trailer, coupled with Capcom's signature quirkiness, left fans eager for more information about the game. The inclusion of a young child playing with a cyborg cat only added to the intrigue and made for compelling marketing material. Unfortunately, the game has been delayed twice now - first from its original 2022 release date to 2023, and now with an indefinite delay. However, Capcom did offer some solace with the release of gameplay footage, showcasing battles with robots and mechs while also hinting at a story that shares elements with Naughty Dog's acclaimed The Last Of Us.

Pragmata Looks Like It Will Focus On A Surrogate Relationship

In Pragmata, the main character is an astronaut-like figure who is accompanied by a peculiar little girl named Diana. Despite her obvious non-human attributes, Diana is an integral part of the game's story. The astronaut is portrayed as a combat-ready individual who carries Diana on his back during gameplay and protects her from harm. Diana, on the other hand, uses her unique abilities to enhance the astronaut's gear and assist him throughout the game. Despite their differences, the two characters work together towards a common goal.

The Last Of Us's Joel And Ellie Have A Relationship Similar To Pragmata's Main Duo

Both pairs of protagonists in Joel and Ellie's world and Pragmata share the common struggle of overcoming seemingly impossible odds and forming an unlikely alliance to achieve their goals. While Joel and Pragmata's astronaut are more experienced in survival, Ellie and Diana bring different strengths and a sense of levity to their respective partnerships. Joel's reliance on Ellie's determination and immunity to the Cordyceps fungus pushes him to care about something beyond himself, while the little shown of Pragmata's astronaut and Diana's relationship indicates they are also making an effort to get along.
