The introduction of a Pokemon Legends Galar edition could address concerns found in Generation 8 while delving into unexplored possibilities, such as introducing fresh evolutions or regional variants for specific Pokemon like Skarmory, Zangoose, Seviper, Luvdisc, and Lechonk.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus faced initial criticism for its graphics in pre-launch trailers. However, it defied expectations and became a tremendous financial success. It not only won the hearts of fans but also introduced groundbreaking changes to the classic series formula. As a result, many fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of a sequel set in another region of the Pokemon franchise. Some hope for a game that maintains the original's gameplay loop. Although it may not seem like the most logical progression, a Pokemon Legends Galar game could offer an opportunity to address the shortcomings of Generation 8 and explore the region's untapped potential.
If any region were to appear in a Pokemon Legends game, Unova seems the most likely contender. This is especially true considering that after the remakes of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in Generation 4, the Gen 5 games are next in line for a remake. However, Galar still has unfinished business within the Pokemon universe. There are several unresolved storylines and untapped narrative potential waiting to be explored. Additionally, an ancient version of Galar would provide a suitable backdrop for the inclusion of certain Pokemon, perhaps with new evolutions or regional forms.
Skarmory
Long considered one of the top-tier Pokemon due to its incredibly potent type combination in the realm of Pokemon games, Skarmory has been in existence since Generation 2. However, it would greatly benefit from a refreshing update, such as the introduction of a new evolution or a regional variant in a future installment of Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This is supported by information from the Pokedex, which indicates that Skarmory and Corviknight engage in fierce territorial battles. Given Corviknight's status as one of the most renowned Pokemon in the Galar region, it would be logical to envision a Galarian Skarmory or a cross-generational evolution for this iconic creature in a previous iteration of the region.
Zangoose and Seviper
Interestingly, Galar boasts the highest number of rivals in any Pokemon game, featuring a total of five (four of which players will encounter in a single playthrough, including DLC, as Klara and Avery are version-exclusive). This abundance of rivals could serve as a compelling catalyst for introducing a fresh concept in a Legends game. Specifically, a potential sequel to Pokemon Legends Arceus could explore the idea of granting regional forms to Zangoose and Seviper, longstanding rivals since their introduction in Gen 3. These forms could depict them as even fiercer adversaries or, alternatively, showcase them coexisting harmoniously for the first time, free from any inter-species conflicts.
Luvdisc
Luvdisc has long been labeled as one of the most disappointing Pokemon thus far, primarily due to its meager base stat total, unimpressive design, and lack of noteworthy moves or alternate forms. However, in Pokemon Emerald of Generation 3, there was a Pokedex entry that mentioned how Luvdisc specimens often establish their nests using Corsola branches. Interestingly, with the introduction of Galarian Corsola in Pokemon Sword and Shield, which offers a fresh perspective on the Generation 2 creature and even evolves, there is now a chance for Luvdisc to finally receive some well-deserved attention. Perhaps, in a potential Pokemon Legends Galar game, Galarian Corsola and Cursola could make a comeback, with Luvdisc also receiving a regional variant that evolves into a different Pokemon, suited to adapting to Cursola's branches. This new form may even take inspiration from a moray eel, making it all the more intriguing.
Lechonk
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Lechonk gained instant popularity online, thanks to its adorable appearance and catchy name. In the upcoming Pokemon Legends Galar game, there is a potential for taking this phenomenon to the next level with the inclusion of Appletun. In the Gen 9 Pokedex entries, it is mentioned that Lechonk enjoys licking the sweet nectar on Appletun's back, which results in the pig-like creature ejecting gooey juice as a defensive mechanism. Considering this, a Galarian version of Lechonk could potentially be stronger and even possess an additional evolution, enabling it to overcome Appletun and savor that coveted nectar.
