Despite the absence of source material, the Pon no Michi anime series is a completely original story for which IIS-P is credited, and OLM (formerly known as Oriental Light and Magic) studios is handling the animation. Despite the lack of source material, excitement and anticipation around the series are respectably high and even comparable to series adapting beloved source material.

The latest promotional video for the Pon no Michi anime unveiled the ending theme song "Good Luck Waker" by Halca. The series has also revealed that the opening theme, titled "Ponpopopon," will be performed by former Nogizaka46 idol group member and professional mahjong player Kana Nakada.
