Police Investigate Drug Probe Surrounding the Death of Parasite Actor Lee Sun-kyun

South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, renowned for his acclaimed performance in the Academy Award-winning film Parasite, has tragically passed away, as confirmed by Seoul police amid an ongoing drug investigation

South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, famous for his role in the Academy Award-winning film "Parasite," has passed away while under investigation for illegal drug use, confirmed by police on Wednesday. He was 48 years old.

Authorities in Seoul received a missing person report from Lee's manager on their hotline. Lee was discovered in his car on Wednesday morning.

The police in Incheon, South Korea, have confirmed that Lee, who had been questioned three times since October as part of an investigation into alleged drug use, is "presumed to have died by suicide," according to authorities.

Lee was called in by the police on December 23rd and detained for 19 hours before being released the next day. Incheon police stated that all of Lee's drug tests during the investigation came back negative, but did not specify the number of tests conducted.

One man and one woman have been arrested in relation to the drug investigation, police said.

Lee received acclaim for his role as Park Dong-ik, the father of the wealthy Park family, in "Parasite."
