Pikmin 4: Master the Art of Riding Oatchi for Uncharted Adventures!

Master the art of riding Oatchi in Pikmin 4 for an unparalleled advantage in combat and game exploration Discover the game-changing potential of Oatchi and revolutionize your Pikmin experience

In the tutorial section of Pikmin 4, players are introduced to various important gameplay mechanics. This includes learning how to gather Pikmin by whistling and receiving a brief overview of combat and map traversal. An interesting aspect of this section is that the main character, Olimar, rides on a dog named Moss during this time. However, once players progress further and meet their own space pup, Oatchi, they no longer have the ability to ride Moss.

Many players may question why they cannot ride Oatchi once their adventure as a Rescue Corps rookie begins. Surprisingly, it is actually possible to ride Oatchi in Pikmin 4. However, this feature, like many other aspects of the game, is not immediately accessible. The good news is that players won't have to wait too long before they can enjoy mounting their adorable space pup, as this skill is unlocked fairly early on.

When first encountered, Oatchi is extremely small, preventing players from riding him immediately. However, after rescuing the S.S. Shepherd's resident scientist Russ, Oatchi will undergo a growth spurt overnight, allowing players to finally mount him. To find Russ, players must venture into the Last-Frost Cavern Sublevel, which serves as the initial Sublevel within the Sun-Speckled Terrace area. Typically, most players will explore this region between Day 2 and Day 4, although a few may take a little longer to reach this destination.

Once reaching full size, players can mount Oatchi by pressing the X button. Riding Oatchi allows all accompanying Pikmin to join the ride, offering a protective measure against predators. Unlike the playable character, Oatchi possesses the ability to jump, initiated by pressing the Y button. By holding down the Y button upon landing, players can unleash a powerful dash, capable of breaking through obstacles, shattering ceramic pots, and even engaging enemies. It's important to exercise caution, as Oatchi is vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Pikmin 4 is now accessible solely on the Nintendo Switch platform.
