Peter Hermann has had not one, but two separate roles in the Sex and the City universe.
During the sixth and final season of SATC, Hermann played the role of a suitor for Charlotte York, portrayed by Kristin Davis. In this season, which was created by Darren Star, Charlotte had recently broken up with her eventual husband, Harry Goldenblatt (played by Evan Handler). Charlotte had converted to Judaism for Harry during their courtship, and members of her synagogue's ladies club set her up with several potential partners. One of these candidates was David, portrayed by Hermann, in the 2004 episode titled "Hop, Skip, and a Week." However, Charlotte abruptly ended their conversation when she realized that Harry was The One and that her connection with David wouldn't lead to anything substantial. Moments later, Harry entered the temple and proposed to win Charlotte back. They are currently still married and are the parents of two children in And Just Like That.
Despite not winning the affection of the girl on Sex and the City, Hermann, aged 55, made a comeback in the universe after 20 years with a short story arc on And Just Like That. In this episode, Hermann portrayed George, a romantic interest for Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), where their paths crossed when she accidentally collided with him while walking on the sidewalk. George, a software engineer who happened to be riding a bicycle at that moment, was thrown off and expressed his frustration towards Carrie for obstructing his way and causing him to injure his wrist. However, after Carrie took him to the urgent care facility, they shared a brief flirtation that led them to George's apartment for a romantic encounter. Unfortunately, their moment together was disrupted by a FaceTime call from George's business partner, who brought up an urgent work deadline.
Although David and George do not have any apparent connection beyond their uncanny physical resemblance, Candace Bushnell, the author of Sex and the City, shared her relatable theory.

"The fact that Carrie's app designer boyfriend is the same guy that Charlotte was set up with at the synagogue in season 6 truly highlights the scarcity of eligible bachelors in New York City," playfully tweeted Bushnell, 64, the author behind the novels that served as inspiration for Star's original series, on Wednesday, July 19th.
Star, 64, is not involved in And Just Like That, as Michael Patrick King took over as showrunner. However, he did cast Hermann on Younger, another TV series. Hermann, who is married to Mariska Hargitay, played the leading man Charles Brooks on the comedy show.
"I enjoyed playing someone who had a well-established business to run, and the tasks ahead were always clear," Hermann said exclusively to We in April 2021 about his portrayal of publisher Charles for seven seasons. "In life, sometimes the tasks ahead can be unclear or more ambiguous. So I loved the opportunity to take on life in a more structured way, wearing a three-piece suit. It always felt like a true luxury."
New episodes of And Just Like That drop Thursdays on Max.
