Dinklage ayss Hunger Games prequel can be seen with no context

While appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Dinklage explained that the Hunger Games prequel can be watched with having seen the entirety of the original trilogy.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set before the original films and Dinklage portrays Dean Casca Highbottom, the leader of the Academy in the Capitol. He is the one who comes up with the idea for the Hunger Games, but later regrets his decision.

“It’s what we call a prequel in the industry,” Dinklage explained. “So, you don’t necessarily have to have seen the other movies – or it might motivate you to watch the previously made films – but he is the one who created it, and now he realizes the terrible consequences of his actions. To cope with the pain, he turns to intoxication.”

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes managed to rake in over $100 million at the box office, which sets it on par with the first trilogy film.

The movie has garnered a massive following among all kinds of Hunger Games fans, boasting a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated film in the franchise.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the potential for the Hunger Games prequel to attract new fans to the franchise. I think that the prequel has the potential to be a great standalone film, even for those who haven't seen the original trilogy. The story is set before the events of the original films and follows a new cast of characters, so it's a great opportunity for new fans to jump in and experience the world of Panem for the first time.

I'm also excited to see how the prequel explores the origins of the Hunger Games and the character of Coriolanus Snow. I think it's going to be really interesting to see how Snow becomes the tyrannical leader that we know him as in the original trilogy. Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic about the Hunger Games prequel and I'm excited to see what it has to offer.
