Persona 3 Remaster Leaves Fans Wanting More

Persona 3 Reload fans will be disappointed to learn that the upcoming remake of the beloved JRPG will be missing content that many were eagerly anticipating

Fans of the classic JRPG Persona 3 have been eagerly awaiting the release of the remake, Persona 3 Reload. The recent Xbox Games Showcase provided a glimpse of the game, showcasing its impressive style that will likely attract both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise. However, it has been confirmed that the game will not include all the content that some fans were hoping for, which may disappoint certain members of the community.

"We wanted to really genuinely work on recreating the Persona 3 experience," said Ryota Niitsuma, the producer of Persona 3 Reload, in a recent interview with IGN. Niitsuma, along with director Kazuhisa Wada, announced that the focus of the remake would be on remaking the original elements of the game that were available in its 2006 PlayStation 2 release. Notably, the FES and Portable contents will not be included.

The addition of an epilogue featuring the popular character Aigis is a hallmark of the FES content, while the Portable content offers players the choice to play as a female protagonist instead of the originally available male protagonist. This change has an impact on certain aspects of the story, such as the limited social links in Persona 3 and the replacement of Igor's assistant from Elizabeth to Theodore. Portable also features two extra difficulty levels not available in Persona 3 Reload.

While the absence of these features may be missed by some long-time fans of the game, it is unlikely to be a deal-breaker for most. As long as the core gameplay of the original title is preserved while being updated to enhance the visuals and experience, many players will overlook the omitted content. The recent glimpse of Tartarus suggests that Atlus is on the right track with Persona 3 Reload.
