The charging station appears to be made of hard plastic, but the base and MagSafe charger are actually covered in soft vegan leather. The pole is made of aluminum. When I took it out of its packaging, I couldn't help but make an "ooh" sound. While the HiRise 3 Deluxe may seem ordinary in pictures, it left a strong impression up close. It exceeded my expectations and added a touch of luxury to my nightstand.
The Nomad Base One Max 3-in-1 has a substantial feel, constructed with metal and glass. However, Twelve South's design incorporates vegan leather and aluminum to create a premium product. I wish this charger had a bit more weight to it, but so far, it has remained stable on any tabletop thanks to its rubber footing.
In a world filled with a wide variety of iPhone chargers, the HiRise 3 Deluxe takes a different approach by going narrow. This innovative dock cleverly positions its charging spots forward and back, ensuring a minimal footprint. Twelve South boldly claims that the base actually occupies less space than an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Personally, I've never felt too restricted by the size of docks, but this unique orientation is less common, making it potentially advantageous for individuals using it on their desk or a small nightstand.
StandBy By Design
The HiRise 3 Deluxe presents itself as the perfect solution, especially considering the timely introduction of iOS 17's new StandBy mode. With this mode, when an iPhone equipped with the latest operating system is attached and turned sideways, it transitions into a large widget mode. This feature is particularly ideal for displaying ambient information.
I don't require an Apple Watch charger cluttering my desk, but having one for overnight charging is essential. The sleek design of the slim aluminum pole that holds the tilting MagSafe charger caught my eye. Its ability to adjust the phone's angle also proved useful for achieving the ideal viewing position. Utilizing this stand transformed my iPhone 15 Pro into a practical bedside clock, as illustrated in the top image.

While I haven't tested all of these products, I have tried many of them over the years. In terms of attention to detail, Twelve South stands out with their HiRise 3 Deluxe, offering subtle yet remarkable features.
Unlike a typical 5W Qi charger for AirPods, the wireless charging spot at the back of the stand provides a faster charging speed of 7.5W, which is the maximum speed for iPhones that support non-MagSafe wireless charging. This feature enhances the usefulness of the charging spot, allowing it to effectively charge a second phone or any other Qi-enabled device.
The Apple Watch charger has a tilting feature, allowing it to be compatible with any band without the need for disconnection during charging. This solves the issue faced by chargers that lay flat and wearers of Sport Loop bands.
The MagSafe charger offers various viewing angles through its tilting capability. This proves to be advantageous in scenarios where slight adjustments in phone positioning enhance visibility of the clock in StandBy mode.
In addition to the mentioned features, all types of iPhones have the ability to magnetically attach without interfering with a watch placed beneath. The compatibility between a phone that can rotate between landscape and portrait modes and a vertically-positioned watch charger is often overlooked, but in this case, it has been carefully considered.
Even in the previous year, on Twelve South's HiRise 3, using a phone case would prevent the phone from sitting flat on the magnetic charger due to the raised camera bump. I did not appreciate this small flaw in that product. However, I have not encountered any such issues with the HiRise 3 Deluxe.

Then again, there aren't many affordable MagSafe chargers available anymore that can accommodate multiple Apple devices. If you're ready to make the investment, this is one of the most meticulously designed choices currently available on the market. While it would be desirable to have white as an additional color option, that might be asking for too much.
