Peacock Pokes Fun at HBO Max's Rebrand to Max

Universal's streaming service Peacock has playfully responded to HBO Max's recent rebrand to Max, poking fun at the name change Max, which launched on May 22, incorporates programming from Discovery+ and promises more Warner Bros Discovery projects in the future Despite some initial technical issues, Max has since provided access to a vast library of movies and TV shows

Peacock has joined in on the fun after HBO Max's recent rebrand to Max, humorously suggesting a name change of their own. Max was initially launched on May 22 by incorporating programs from the still-active Discovery+ into the service, while also teasing a plethora of upcoming Warner Bros. Discovery projects. Although the HBO Max replacement experienced some technical glitches on launch day, the problem was quickly fixed, allowing customers to access Max's vast library of movies and TV shows. Peacock has now taken to Twitter to respond to Max's name change with a playful suggestion for their own rebranding.

Max's streaming service previously carried the HBO name, but now it is simply referred to as Max. This change has led to some humorous suggestions about the reason behind the rebranding. One joke in particular pokes fun at Peacock, a rival streaming service, while also taking a jab at Max for losing the prestigious HBO moniker. Despite the jokes, it appears that Max has no intention of reverting back to the HBO name.

HBO Max's rebrand to Max was announced in April, following initial reports in 2022. Max now includes the same extensive collection of movies and TV shows as HBO Max, with the added bonus of exclusive content from Discovery. Although Discovery+ will remain a separate streaming service, Max will mirror its library of content.

In addition to its existing library of TV shows and movies, Max will also offer a diverse range of new, original content. This will include TV shows that are connected to James Gunn's highly anticipated DC Universe, as well as a TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved Harry Potter franchise. By rebranding as Max, the streaming platform aims to establish itself as a distinct entity from HBO, allowing for the creation of unique and exceptional original programming.

Despite being the subject of online mockery, HBO Max's rebrand to Max has generated creative responses from its competitors, such as Peacock. Some have poked fun at Max's tagline, "the one to watch for HBO," as well as the numerous name changes the HBO streaming services have undergone over the years. While Max has the potential to open up new avenues for Warner Bros. Discovery's content production, it may require some time to settle in before achieving its full potential.
