According to a report by iMBC, Park underwent a significant weight loss to authentically portray the vulnerability of Ji-won’s character, who was battling cancer. The initial images of Park in Marry My Husband feature the actor donning a hospital gown, sweater, knitted hat, and glasses.

"Park Min-young’s portrayal of a cancer patient in Marry My Husband was so realistic that it surprised everyone on set. The production team urges viewers to pay close attention to the brilliant depiction of Kang Ji-won's transformation before and after her revival," as reported by Soompi. The drama tells the story of Ji-won’s loveless marriage to her selfish husband Park Min-hwan (Lee Yi-kyung), which is further strained by his demeaning mother and unemployment, leading Ji-won to handle his debt as the main breadwinner and take on all the household chores.

After being diagnosed with cancer and discovering her husband's affair with her best friend, Ji-won is tragically murdered by her husband. However, she inexplicably wakes up ten years in the past, still dating Min-hwan. Determined to change her destiny, she sets out to make her best friend marry Min-hwan instead.
