Hugh Jackman’s Real Steel climbs Netflix Top 10 chart
Hugh Jackman’s underrated 2011 movie Real Steel has made its way onto the Netflix Top 10 chart.
Described as Jackman's introduction to the world of Transformers, the official synopsis of the movie states: "Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) was formerly a prizefighter whose opportunity to claim a title was taken away when massive, towering robots dominated the boxing arena.
Currently working as a small-time promoter, Charlie assembles scrap metal into low-end fighters, barely scraping by from one underground venue to the next. After reaching a low point, Charlie reluctantly partners with his estranged son, Max (Dakota Goyo), to construct and train a championship robot for a final chance at redemption. The movie has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 60% and an audience score of 73% from over 100,000 ratings.
Shawn Levy of The New York Times praised Real Steel as "a skillfully crafted form of entertainment with a confident pace, though its essential subplots feel like obligatory fillers placed between fight scenes."
On the other hand, The Independent's Anthony Quinn had a different perspective, describing the film as "a heartwarming (or terribly sentimental) tale of a fractured family, struggling to be heard above the clangor of metal-on-metal."
"I didn't even know Real Steel was available on Netflix, I haven't seen it in ages," one fan wrote on X/Twitter in response to the Hugh Jackman film's success in the Netflix rankings. "They added Real Steel to Netflix, so don't bother asking me what I'm watching because that's going to be my answer every single time," added another.
The current top 10 chart on Netflix is as follows:
Best. Christmas. Ever!
Lone Survivor
A Walk in the Woods
The Killer
See You on Venus
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Minions
