Tokyo's Haneda Airport is expected to cancel over 100 flights on Wednesday due to a runway plane collision. Two Japanese carriers have reported this, and an estimated 20,000 passengers will be affected, including 9,250 from Japan Airlines (JAL). NHK is reporting these cancellations.
54 domestic flights and one international flight for Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) as well as 50 domestic JAL flights have been cancelled, according to both airlines. In response, Central Japan Railway Company will provide additional bullet train services on Wednesday, as reported by NHK.

The tragic plane crash occurred at 5:46 pm local time (3:46 am ET) on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The collision involved a JAL jet transporting numerous passengers from the northern city of Sapporo, which collided with an earthquake relief aircraft upon landing at Haneda, causing it to burst into flames.
379 passengers on JAL flight 516, including eight children under the age of two, were successfully evacuated from the plane, as reported by the airline. Unfortunately, five crew members lost their lives on the second aircraft, a De Havilland Canada DHC-8, confirmed by Japan's transport minister, Tetsuo Saito.
The video captured a massive fireball erupting as the JAL plane ignited, leaving a fiery trail along the runway. Ongoing investigations into the crash are being conducted, with experts informing CNN that the successful evacuation can be attributed to a combination of modern safety standards and JAL's rigorous safety culture.
