One Piece Remake and Elbaf Arc Officially Announced at Jump Festa 2024

The RED Stage at Jump Festa 2024, which took place on December 17, 2023, unveiled the production of a One Piece Remake. Although the highly anticipated Monsters anime trailer was not shown, the information shared about the anime and manga at the event has fans eagerly looking forward to next year.

In line with tradition, the voice actors for the Straw Hats crew made an appearance at the event. To the surprise of attendees, Inaki Godoy and Jacob Gibson, who play Luffy and Usopp in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, also briefly appeared at the event and reenacted some beloved scenes.

2023 has been a remarkable year for One Piece, as the Netflix series has gained global popularity, the anime has adapted the highly anticipated event of Luffy awakening his Devil Fruit, and the Egghead arc has left readers craving for more revelations. In the midst of this, Oda has hinted that the upcoming year could be just as, if not more, exciting for the manga, particularly with the Straw Hats embarking on a journey to Elbaf.

Jump Festa 2024: Elbaf is the next stop in the One Piece manga, new songs coming to the anime, and a remake in production

At the Jump Festa Super Stage last year, Eiichiro Oda publicly admitted that he had prematurely announced the impending end of the manga. He realized that, despite the story entering its final saga, there was still a significant amount of untold story left. With the Straw Hats gearing up to visit the fabled island of the Giants, Elbaf, it seems that Oda has found a way to steer clear of it.

Usopp has harbored a long-standing dream of exploring this island ever since his encounter with Dorry and Brogy in Little Garden. Furthermore, with the revelation that the Red Hair Pirates are stationed there, a visit to Elbaf would also mean a long-awaited reunion for Usopp and his father, Yasopp, as well as Shanks and Luffy.

Oda had also teased last year that the Egghead arc would escalate into a battle royale, and that's exactly what happened. Fans not only got a deeper look into the history of the One Piece world, but they also got to see Gear 5 Luffy facing off against Lucci and Kizaru in combat.

Not only were there some important clashes such as Blackbeard versus Law, Shanks versus Kid, and Garp versus Aokiji, but Oda's announcement at Jump Festa 2024 about a major fight next year has fans eagerly waiting. It remains unclear which of the two main characters will face off, with the most likely candidates being Luffy and Saturn, who are in Egghead. In order to escape with Vegapunk, the Straw Hats will need to fight. Although Saturn's Ushi-oni-themed Devil Fruit has been revealed, its powers remain a mystery, making his upcoming fight one of the most highly anticipated events in the manga.

The potential for a Blackbeard versus Shanks or Zoro versus Mihawk showdown is also a possibility. With Luffy's visit to Elbaf, a potential clash between Luffy and Shanks could be in the works. However, all of this remains mere speculation.

In One Piece chapter 1102, which is the final installment of the year 2023, a page was revealed at Jump Festa 2024. The story will continue with a flashback sequence, featuring Ace excitedly telling Jinbe about Luffy's victory over Arlong, Dragon informing Sabo of his intention to visit Loguetown, and Bonney expressing her ambition to become a famous pirate to catch Kuma's attention. The anime adaptation of the Egghead arc is scheduled to begin in January 2024. Hiroshi Kitadani will perform the new opening theme for the One Piece anime, and Maki Otsuki will sing the new ending theme.

The event announced the voice actors for the new characters: Yohei Tadano will play Dr. Vegapunk, Shuhei Sakaguchi as Shaka, Aya Hirano as Lilith, Ryoko Shiraishi as Edison, Tokuyoshi Kawashima as Pythagoras, Kaede Hondo as Atlas, and Mutsumi Tamara as York.

The first episode of One Piece, Romance Dawn, is set to be re-animated with new footage by a fresh animation team at WIT Studio. The re-animation will be released on Netflix, and a teaser has already been made available on YouTube. In addition, Oda has encouraged fans to anticipate the 25th anniversary of the Anime in 2024, mentioning exciting projects planned by Toei and Shueisha for the celebration.
