The Catalan Naturism Club collaborated with the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia to hold a special 90-minute tour on Saturday, allowing visitors to experience the museum in the nude.
The Bronzes of Riace exhibition, composed of Luigi Spinas' photographs, showcased two colossal Greek bronze statues of bare warriors from the 5th century BCE. Unearthed in 1972 near Riace, Italy, the exhibition aimed to offer a unique and vibrant experience to its visitors. According to guide Edgard Mestre, the intention was to move away from conventional guided tours and create an atmosphere where visitors could fully immerse themselves in the essence of the artwork they were beholding. Mestre himself even chose to participate in the clothes-free experience, ensuring that everyone who came to view the exhibition would feel a profound connection with the extraordinary masterpieces.
Visitors to the museum website were enticed with the opportunity to "appreciate the artwork by immersing oneself in the same setting, unclothed and amidst fellow bodies."
"(I feel) the same level of intensity as when viewing it dressed, yet with the added element of comprehending that nudity has always been present and bodies should not be a cause of embarrassment for anyone," remarked Marta, a 59-year-old healthcare worker, who was visiting the exhibition.
