Fans of Hunter x Hunter are continuing to express concern and support for manga author Yoshihiro Togashi as he battles debilitating back pain and other health issues. Speculation about the ending of the manga series is rampant on platforms like Reddit and social media, with fans eagerly discussing the possibilities.
A recent post from a reputable source (@pewpiece) shared a translation of a segment from TV Asahi’s Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show, shedding light on Togashi's approach to the ending of Hunter x Hunter. It was revealed that the author has four different endings in mind, including one that involves the character Gon and his wife, Noko.
Hunter x Hunter: Potential manga ending given by the manga author himself
The next query that emerges is: Who exactly is Noko? She happens to be one of the few remaining youngsters on Whale Island, the same place where Gon hails from. Now, let’s delve into the conclusion regarding Gon and his partner, as was deliberated on a Japanese television program.
The author has four different endings in mind, with the first three left unexplained but categorized based on their potential reception. The discussion on Asashi TV's Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show revealed the following translations.
"When considering the ending, I have prepared three scenarios: A, B, and C. Based on the feedback from readers, 80% found ending A satisfactory and 20% found it unsatisfactory."
This does not necessarily imply a high rating, but for me, reaching it will be secure in a way that doesn't complicate matters with excessive criticism, in my belief.”
Further adding,
"I keep it present despite the high rate of dissatisfaction because it is important to acknowledge and consider differing opinions and reactions."
"I have a personal preference, but essentially, I aim to thoroughly consider every possible ending. It's possible that I won't choose any of these three and instead create something that I find most enjoyable, which is my ideal goal. In this scenario, the ending involves Gon's wife, Noko, from the Hunter x Hunter series. Yoshihiro Togashi stated that if he were to meet an unfortunate demise, scenario D would be the conclusion of the manga."
The introduction of Jin shows her sitting still, patiently waiting for a fish to take the bait. Soon, the Hunter x Hunter character successfully catches the Lake Lord. Despite Jin's lack of interest in leaving the island, her parents are adamant about her becoming a hunter and leaving the island.

The explanation from her parents provided Hunter x Hunter fans with some understanding of Gon's life. They claimed that Jin had Gon Freecss' blood in her, implying that she would one day become a renowned Hunter. However, when Jin showed no interest in leaving the town, they suggested that this behavior could be attributed to Noko's blood in her.
This could be seen as a potential indication that Gon Freecss might marry Noko in the future, as she was the only other remaining child on Whale Island besides Gon.
Noko briefly appears in two different story arcs in the manga and anime series. In the Hunter Exam arc, she greets Gon as he departs from the dock, and in the Yorknew City arc, Gon mentions her name briefly to Killua. If Yoshihiro Togashi's contingency plan comes into effect, Noko's character in the Hunter x Hunter series could be further explored. However, not much is known about Noko except that she could be Gon's potential bride in the anime and manga series.
Stay tuned for more anime and manga news as 2023 progresses.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am intrigued by the possibility of Gon and Noko ending up together in the Hunter x Hunter manga. The idea of Gon marrying the only other remaining child on Whale Island adds a sense of familiarity and nostalgia to the story. It would be interesting to see how their relationship develops and how it affects Gon's journey as a Hunter.
However, I also understand that the author has other potential endings in mind, and I am open to exploring those as well. Ultimately, I trust Yoshihiro Togashi to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the series, regardless of which ending he chooses. I am excited to see how the story unfolds and to learn more about Noko and her role in Gon's life.
