Noah Reid and Ashley McBryde appeared to make a subtle jab at Morgan Wallen during their presentation at the 2024 Academy of Country Music awards.

The duo took the stage on Thursday, May 16, to announce the winner of Single of the Year. McBryde, 40, brought out a ukulele to honor the nominees, including Wallen, 31, Parker McCollum, Jelly Roll, Jordan Davis, and Luke Combs. McBryde and Reid, 36, performed a playful parody of the artists' songs.

The duo decided to mention Wallen during their performance, poking fun at the singer's recent arrest in Nashville. It was reported that Wallen allegedly threw a chair off the balcony at Eric Church's bar last month.

During the performance, the Schitt's Creek alum sang lyrics from Wallen's nominated song "Last Night," joking about how he threw the chair after drinking alcohol. Wallen was told he threw it at someone he didn't know, and his publicist keeps reminding him that the incident is not over yet.

McBryde continued to joke by suggesting Wallen should smile in his mugshot, referencing Wallen's previous mugshot where he was seen grinning. Some fans of country music showed their support for McBryde's playful jab on social media.

It was confirmed that Wallen was arrested and charged with three felony counts, including three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct in April. Metro Nashville police officers stated that law enforcement was outside the bar when a chair fell from above, landing near where they were positioned.

Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville at 10:53 p.m. on Sunday evening for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to his lawyer, Worrick Robinson. He stated that Wallen is fully cooperating with the authorities. Afterwards, Wallen took to social media to address his behavior and openly admitted that he was not proud of his actions.

Wallen explained in a message through X in April that he wanted to make things right with certain individuals before publicly checking in. He mentioned reaching out to Nashville law enforcement, his family, and the staff at Chief's. Wallen admitted to feeling ashamed of his actions and took full accountability.

Recently, Wallen was supposed to go to court for the incident, but he chose not to attend the hearing.

Morgan Wallen's lawyer informed Us in May that the court has waived Wallen's appearance on Friday, May 3. The lawyer stated that Wallen's presence is not necessary for the case to proceed. The Office of the District Attorney has been informed about the Appearance Waiver. Robinson, on behalf of Wallen, will be present at the hearing.
