Noah Cyrus Opens Up About Overcoming Cyberbullying and Embracing Self-Love

Noah Cyrus bravely speaks out against the hurtful backlash surrounding her engagement to designer Pinkus, highlighting the alarming resemblance it holds to the painful memories of feeling suicidal at a young age

Noah Cyrus has received backlash online regarding her looks and her engagement to Pinkus. She is now speaking out against this criticism. According to screenshots from Page Six, the 23-year-old singer took to her Instagram Story on Thursday, June 29, to express her thoughts. She expressed her disappointment in the internet and commenters for trying to diminish her joy, love, and happiness since she announced something positive in her life. She mentioned the hurtful comments about her appearance and body, which she has been receiving since she was just 11-12 years old.

Cyrus vehemently denounced the internet trolls who had previously bombarded her with hateful comments, which had a detrimental impact on her mental well-being.

"During my formative years, these very individuals on the internet convinced me that my younger self, that innocent little girl, was undeserving of life simply because she did not measure up to their beauty standards," she expressed. "Today, once again, I am painfully reminded of the toxic nature of the internet and its ability to foster self-hatred. It drove me to contemplate suicide, made me believe that my life was meaningless, and pushed me into a dangerous cycle of substance abuse."

In her extensive social media statement, Cyrus conveyed her concerns for other young celebrities facing similar difficulties.

"I have deep concerns for the young ones growing up on the internet, including my own children. Today, I have come across hurtful words that no one deserves. Thankfully, I am in a better state of mind where these words no longer push me to harm myself. The internet is an overwhelming and hostile place, and we are all in this together," she stated. "We are living in 2023, and it is crucial that we put an end to judging individuals based on their love life, appearance, origin, and the way they choose to live their lives."

The candid message from the "Make Me (Cry)" singer follows her announcement of Pinkus's proposal, which came two months after the couple went public.

Captioning an Instagram post on Monday, June 26, she expressed that saying "yes" to spending their lives together was the greatest moment of her entire life. Reflecting on the past month of being engaged and enjoying their intimate world as a couple, she described it as perfect and expressed a desire to never leave this cherished time. She expressed her disbelief in finding a man like Pinkus, someone who is selfless and overflowing with love to give.

Cyrus expressed her admiration for the designer, describing them as the most accepting person she has ever encountered. She feels an overwhelming sense of love and happiness, recognizing that forever with them will never be enough. Cyrus is immensely grateful for the life they have built together, a life she never believed she deserved or would experience. She eagerly anticipates each day with them, cherishing their relationship. She considers herself incredibly fortunate and would gladly say "yes" to them every day. Her love for them is boundless. ️⃤

Having previously shared her battle with depression and anxiety, Cyrus, a native of Tennessee and younger sister of Miley Cyrus, once questioned her own existence at the age of 21.

"Every day is a constant effort when it comes to managing one's mental health and facing personal challenges. It's important to acknowledge that not every day will be filled with hardships, and neither will they be flawlessly perfect. I'm still navigating through this journey," she expressed on Instagram. "I am grateful that you understand the difficulty I faced growing up in the public eye...thank you for your unwavering support and for evolving alongside me."

Noah later reflected on her past battle with addiction, shedding light on how being in the limelight provided her with easy access to drugs.

"During an interview with Rolling Stone in July 2022, she shared her experience of being two years into her 'recovery.' She revealed that once she realized it was possible to momentarily escape and numb her pain, it marked the end. It transformed into a dark and seemingly bottomless pit. However, she explained that she has gradually been able to find solace in the mornings. She can now face herself in the mirror without self-hatred and carry on with her day. She has learned to comfort and take care of herself."
