Nintendo Switch Owners Beware: This One Mistake Could Spell Disaster for Your Console!

Nintendo urges Switch owners to steer clear of potential pitfalls that may jeopardize their consoles, issuing a timely public service announcement on social media

Nintendo recently utilized social media to release a series of public service announcements aimed at reminding Switch console users to avoid mistakes that could lead to permanent damage. These announcements came at a significant time for Nintendo, as they coincided with the availability of popular games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as upcoming releases such as Pikmin 4 and the Super Mario RPG remake.

Despite being on the market for six years, the Switch has faced various challenges and controversies caused by user errors. To address the widely reported issue of Joy-Con drift, Nintendo introduced a repair subscription service in Japan last year. This service, available for approximately 2,000 yen or $1.99 per year, covers Joy-Con drift and other problems that might require the console to be sent in for repairs. Although this program is currently exclusive to Japan, Nintendo has still made an effort to provide users with maintenance guidelines to follow.

Recently, the nintendo_cs Twitter account warned users against touching the inside of the Switch's Game Card slot. According to Nintendo, inserting a cotton swab to clean the slot can cause damage. Additionally, a Switch Game Card with broken terminals can also harm the slot. To clean the slot, Nintendo recommends using a vacuum to remove dust, while cautioning against blowing on it to prevent saliva damage. This contradicts the old practice of blowing on NES cartridges.

The compatibility of the Nintendo Switch's successor with Game Cards is yet to be determined. However, the developer portal has recently been updated to support the new system. Nintendo has not provided any official information regarding the specifications, pricing, or name of the Switch successor. Only time will unfold these details.
