Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder Welcome Another Addition to Their Growing Family - Prepare to Be Amazed!

Nikki Reed silently announced the arrival of her second child with husband Ian Somerhalder in June.

In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram Story on Thursday, June 29, Reed, 35, expressed, "Just a few weeks ago, we welcomed our son on a day that will forever be etched in my memory as one of the most extraordinary. With a home birth in water and surrounded by boundless love, my heart instantly grew twofold."

The Twilight actress stated that she has strict boundaries with social media, particularly when it involves children and what she chooses to share. She expressed her gratitude in advance for respecting those boundaries and for sending positivity, kindness, and love. Reed went on to thank her midwife and doctors for their assistance in safely delivering her son, and she shared a close-up photo of his hand.

Reed teased her new baby's arrival on social media the day before. "While I'm here dealing with being pooped and peed on, let's pretend life is glamorous for a moment ;)," she posted on Wednesday, June 28, with a picture of wildflowers. "Although, to be honest, I wouldn't want it any other way."

In January, Somerhalder, 44, announced on social media that he and his wife were expecting their second child.

From the time I was young, my biggest desire has always been to have a large family. I am grateful to Nik for granting me that wish. Here we go again, entering round two! Somerhalder wrote alongside an Instagram picture of the Twilight actress holding their 5-year-old daughter, Bodhi, and gently touching her pregnant belly. "I want to express my deepest gratitude to this amazing person for giving me the blessing of life and love, for being an incredible mother, and for working tirelessly to make our dreams come true! As I took this photo, I couldn't believe the sheer beauty I saw through the lens. There is nothing more magnificent..."

Reed, on her part, shared the same photo on her own Instagram account with the caption: "2023, celebrating the years of dedication, visualization, and prayers for this very moment. So much love. What a precious gift."

In July 2014, we first reported that Somerhalder and Reed had become an item, transitioning from friends to a couple. The couple further solidified their bond in August 2014 by jointly purchasing a horse.

The Vampire Diaries former star expressed his pride as a new father, captioning a photo of himself cuddling with the horse. He praised the amazing nature of these creatures and introduced their shared pet as Eagle. He also thanked Nikki Reed for capturing this special moment with their beloved big baby boy.

In October 2014, Somerhalder expressed his admiration for Reed and their dogs on Instagram.

He wrote, "Spending the day with these three beautiful ladies is an incredible experience. Smiling is such a wonderful part of being human - I highly recommend it." Somerhalder continued to express his love for Reed, thanking her for dedicating her life to advocating for others and being a powerful voice. He concluded with, "You continue to amaze me. With love, Ian."

After a whirlwind romance, a source exclusively shared with Us in January 2015 that the couple were engaged.

“She accepted with glee,” the insider told Us. “She is madly in love.”

According to the source, the couple had already established a friendship and mutual attraction while they were in separate relationships. Although their relationship progressed quickly, they felt it was the right decision due to their shared values and dedication to their work and humanitarian endeavors.

Almost three months later, the couple got married in a small and private ceremony in Santa Monica. Some of Somerhalder's fellow actors from the CW show, including Kat Graham, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, and Phoebe Tonkin, were present to celebrate their union.

"Nikki's excitement and joy about her upcoming marriage to Ian is beyond measure," shared an insider with Us. "Their profound love and happiness are truly evident."

In May 2017, the couple delightedly announced their anticipation of welcoming their first child. The Louisiana-born individual took to social media platforms to share this exhilarating news.

"To all our loved ones and the world beyond, never before in my 38 years on this planet have I encountered anything as profound and exquisite as this. This upcoming chapter fills me with unparalleled excitement, and we felt it was only right that you heard it directly from us," wrote Somerhalder in the caption of an Instagram photo capturing him tenderly kissing Reed's baby bump. "This period has been the most precious and cherished time of our lives, and we desired to savor it privately amongst the three of us for as long as possible, relishing in every precious moment as our little one rapidly grows...as they always do, growing with astonishing speed. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your kind thoughts and affection. With love, Ian."

Their bundle of joy, Bodhi, was welcomed into the world by the O.C. alum in August 2017.

Reed had been previously married to Paul McDonald from 2011 to 2014 before her relationship with Somerhalder. Additionally, she was romantically linked to Derek Hough, Robert Pattinson, DJ Qualls, and Victor Rasuk. Meanwhile, Somerhalder had a previous relationship with his former Vampire Diaries costar Nina Dobrev from 2010 to 2013.
