Nikki Glaser shared her thoughts on Tom Brady's recent comments about his participation in Netflix's The Roast of Tom Brady on Today With Hoda & Jenna.

She mentioned that Brady may have not anticipated the negative reactions from his family following the show's debut. However, she also pointed out that Brady is known for being well-informed and deliberate in his decisions.

Earlier this week, Brady, 46, revealed on the “Pivot Podcast” that he decided not to do another roast due to the impact it had on his children. He expressed concern about how the roast jokes affected his kids, whom he cares about the most in the world. Brady has a son named Jack, 16, with his ex Bridget Moynahan, and two kids, Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, with his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen.

During her Today interview, Glaser questioned whether Brady was unprepared for the harshness of the roast because of his widespread popularity in his professional life. She pondered if he failed to anticipate the intensity of the jokes because there were previous roast footages available for reference. Glaser also considered the possibility that Brady, being adored by many throughout his career, may not have experienced negative comments for decades and therefore, was unaware of how far people could go with their remarks.

Glaser shared that during the roast, where she was one of the celebrity roasters, she felt like things might have gotten a bit out of hand. She mentioned that Brady was not given any restrictions on topics before the special, but she and the other guests agreed not to talk about his children.

She clarified, "There were no specific rules on what we could or couldn't talk about."

During the May 5 special, Glaser was named the winner of the roast by Today's Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. She received plenty of laughter for her jokes about Brady's previous relationships with Moynahan, 53, and Bündchen, 43.

Tom Brady, as seen in the photo by Monica Schipper/Getty Images, has had quite a career. In 2006, when he split with his then-pregnant girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, there were jokes made about his retirement and comebacks.

One joke that stood out was, “Tom, you’re the best to ever play for too long. You retired, then came back, then retired, I get it … It’s hard to walk away from something that isn’t your pregnant girlfriend.” The humor continued with, “To be fair he didn’t know, he just thought she was getting fat.”

During Brady's divorce from Bündchen in October 2022, Glaser joked about Brady having seven rings, now eight since Gisele returned hers. She also teased Bündchen's boyfriend, jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, saying he could beat Brady up while eating his ex-wife's food.

After Bündchen expressed disappointment over the jokes made about her during the roast, Glaser publicly asked for forgiveness. She told TMZ on May 8 that she hopes Bündchen will forgive her someday because she truly loves her, emphasizing that she did not intend to be too harsh on her.

"I love her so much, but sometimes I feel like she's been making fun of me just by being so attractive all the time. I felt like she deserved it, but not really!" Glaser shared with the outlet. "I understand why she might be upset and I would definitely say sorry to her if I get the chance. It was all meant in good fun, like a roast."

Nikki Glaser's insights on Tom Brady's response to the roast highlight the potential consequences of public exposure. While Brady may have anticipated some negative feedback, the intensity of the criticism from his family likely came as a surprise. Glaser's suggestion that Brady's sheltered existence may have contributed to his naivety is thought-provoking.

The roast's jokes about Brady's personal life, including his relationships and family, underscore the fine line between humor and insensitivity. Glaser's public apology to Gisele Bündchen demonstrates her understanding of the impact her words may have had. The incident serves as a reminder that while comedy can be cathartic, it should always be balanced with respect for others' feelings.
