Nia Long and her former partner Ime Udoka have apparently come to an agreement in their custody dispute. They have decided to co-parent their 12-year-old son Kez, with Udoka providing a monthly child support of $32,500. Kez will primarily live with his mother in Los Angeles, while spending 5% of his time with his father, who is currently serving as the head coach of the Houston Rockets.
Udoka will be responsible for their son’s health and dental insurance as per the agreement, while decisions about Kez’s education and welfare will be made jointly by Udoka and Long. TMZ reported in August 2023 that Long had filed for primary custody of Kez, alleging that Udoka was not providing enough support. In response, Udoka requested joint custody of their son.

Long and Udoka started a relationship in 2010 and got engaged in 2015. However, the couple parted ways in December 2022 following allegations that Udoka had been unfaithful with a member of the Boston Celtics staff. As a result, Udoka was suspended by the Celtics for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season and was subsequently replaced as head coach.
During a YouTube conversation with Jeezy in December 2023, Long opened up about her recent public breakup. She expressed that it served as a wake-up call for her to be independent and not worry about others' opinions.

Long also indicated that she and Udoka were not on good terms even before his alleged affair.
"The relationship had been tumultuous for quite some time," she stated. "I don't think someone else can be blamed for ending a relationship. I simply don't believe that." Long and Udoka ended their relationship three months after Udoka's infidelity scandal made the news.
During her conversation with Jeezy, 46, Long revealed that she had come to terms with the conclusion of her relationship with Udoka.
"There's a limit to everything, and you have to recognize when it's time to move on," she stated. "It's usually not about someone else, an affair, or some woman who is willing to make you feel like a king, because that's often why men cheat. It's revolting and senseless."

Long stated that she did not feel ashamed of the public scandal.
"I was surprised at how Black people supported me and how Black women were like, 'Oh, no, you don't do that to her,'" she said. "I was shocked because I didn't realize the extent to which my career had made an impact."
