The film studio that produced the unexpected success Sound of Freedom has released a new movie this week, but The Shift is receiving negative early reviews, resulting in a low Rotten Tomatoes score for the film.
Sound of Freedom, featuring Jim Caviezel as a former government agent tracking down child traffickers, exceeded expectations as a summer thriller. With a budget of $14.5 million, the film earned close to $250 million.
Angel Studios has released a new movie, and this week they are following it up with a supernatural thriller starring Neal McDonough.
The film is set to premiere tomorrow (December 1), but The Shift currently has an average Rotten Tomatoes score.
The Shift debuts with disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score
The reviews are live for The Shift, and it currently commands a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 50%. Which is less than the 57% that Sound of Freedom managed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Shift doesn't prioritize plot coherence, and is loosely based on The Book of Job with a Stan Lee twist, minus superheroes.
ScreenRant criticized The Shift as being flat and overly long, with a confusing mix of sci-fi and religion. The lead performance by Kristoffer Polaha is solid but not outstanding.

Editor's P/S
As a fan of the Sound of Freedom studio, I am disappointed to hear that their newest release, The Shift, has received underwhelming reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. I was excited to see what the studio would do next after the success of Sound of Freedom, but it seems that The Shift may not live up to expectations.
Despite the negative reviews, I am still interested in seeing The Shift for myself. I am a fan of the studio's previous work, and I am hoping that The Shift will be a return to form. I am also curious to see how the studio will handle the criticism that the film has received. Will they take the feedback to heart and make changes to the film, or will they double down on their original vision? Only time will tell.
