New Twilight Film: Director Discloses Reboot's Ideal Choices for Bella & Edward

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke announces her dream choices for Bella and Edward in the proposed TV reboot of the vampire saga, sparking excitement about the upcoming series

A Twilight TV series is reportedly in development, with Catherine Hardwicke – the director of the original movie – recently announcing her choices for the new Bella and Edward.

Upon landing their roles in the original Twilight movie, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were both up-and-coming actors, known for their roles in Panic Room and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, respectively.

Playing Bella and Edward in the Twilight franchise propelled the duo into stardom and made them well-known names and heartthrobs among teenagers. They have spent years trying to distance themselves from the shadow of these iconic roles. As a new adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's vampire novels is in the works, discussions have begun about who could take their place and portray the horror icons in this upcoming version.

Twilight director reveals casting picks for Bella & Edward in reboot

In regards to casting, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke expressed strong approval for Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi to take on the roles of Bella and Edward in the proposed reboot.

"She said the Wednesday and Priscilla stars would be perfect. Hardwicke described Elordi as amazing and possibly Edward today in Saltburn. She also used the word 'amazing' to describe Ortega, saying there are many cool young actors today, including Jenna Ortega."

What’s happening with the Twilight TV series?

In April, there was a revelation that a Twilight TV series is currently in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate Television is spearheading the project, although a network or channel for the series has not been finalized yet.

It is uncertain whether the show will be a direct adaptation of the novels, a prequel, sequel, or offshoot. Sinead Daly, known for her work on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, The Get-Down, Raised by Wolves, and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, is writing the script. It is also expected that author Stephanie Meyers will be involved, but there is no timeline for when the Twilight TV show might be available to buyers. There have been no further updates on the reboot.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I'm excited about the potential for a Twilight TV reboot. I think Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi would be great choices for Bella and Edward. They're both talented actors who could bring a fresh perspective to the roles. I'm also curious to see how the show will differ from the movies. Will it be a more faithful adaptation of the books? Will it explore new storylines? I'm excited to find out.

I'm also a little bit nervous about the reboot. I loved the original movies, and I'm not sure if a TV show can capture the same magic. But I'm willing to give it a chance. I think it could be a great way to introduce the Twilight series to a new generation of fans.
