New Kingdom Film Unveils Release Date & Action-Packed Teaser

The popular series Kingdom is set to release its fourth live-action film, and the newly released teaser has fans eager for more. Based on Yasuhisa Hara’s manga, the third film topped the charts during its opening weekend in July 2023, setting high expectations for the upcoming instalment.

The upcoming live-action film, Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan, will cover the manga’s Shi Ka arc and the Battle of Bayou. With filming completed, exciting updates including the release date and a "super" teaser have been announced for the highly anticipated film set to premiere in Japan next year.

Kingdom’s 4th live-action plot

The production of the fourth film was confirmed at a special event following the release of the third film on September 12. Just three months later in December, the official website for the upcoming live-action film revealed the release date, along with a 50-second teaser trailer and a key visual featuring General Wang Qi brandishing a menacing guandao (an ancient pole weapon).

The upcoming movie will adapt the Shi Ka arc and the Battle of Bayou from the manga, depicting Shin and Wang Qi’s first joint battle against a northern invasion by Zhao. This arc, spanning chapters 108-173, is the 6th in the series.

Cast, crew and production

Shinsuke Sato is set to return as the director, continuing his work from all three previous films. Hara and Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who worked on the live-action Black Butler, are back to pen the script. Additionally, the main cast members are also making a comeback.

As a Gen Z fan of the Kingdom series, I am thrilled about the upcoming release of Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan.
