Netflix Unveils Joy Ngiaw's Latest Uplifting Tracks on Glamorous! Exclusive Release!

Netflix’s Glamorous is a captivating comedy-drama series that draws inspiration from iconic films like The Devil Wears Prada while establishing its unique identity. Starring Miss Benny as Marco Mejia, a young androgynous individual breaking conventional gender norms, the show revolves around his journey at a prestigious cosmetics company led by Kim Cattrall’s character, Madolyn Addison. Although a second season of Glamorous has yet to be confirmed, the first season hinted at a wealth of untold stories waiting to be explored.

The music for Glamorous was composed by Malaysian artist Joy Ngiaw, renowned for her contributions to notable projects such as the Skydance Animation short film Blush and the Netflix movie Rescued by Ruby. Ngiaw's exceptional talent also extended to creating the score for Skydance Animation's inaugural studio logo, making her the youngest composer to shape the sonic identity of a film studio. Ngiaw's music for Glamorous will be fully available on July 7th, when the complete soundtrack will be released by Lakeshore Records. "Madolyn" and "Glamorous by Madolyn" offer a glimpse of the soundtrack, highlighting the pop music influences and playful tone that Ngiaw curated for the show. Ngiaw herself expressed her intentions and process as follows:

This score represents a departure from my usual orchestral work and embraces a contemporary and pop-inspired style. The music exudes a lighthearted and enjoyable tone throughout, while still incorporating heartfelt and tender moments that bring depth to the composition. The filmmakers' guiding keywords for this score were 'sexy,' 'trendy,' and 'intriguing,' with emotional moments subtly woven into the overall composition. In this series, I experimented with using plug-ins to manipulate traditional orchestral instruments such as the harp, piano, vibes, and even my own voice. The aim was to infuse the score with a touch of 'dreaminess' and a modern flair.
