Vanessa Lachey posted a picture on her Instagram Story on Saturday, May 11, showing some of the NCIS: Hawai’i cast members enjoying the sunset with their arms around each other. Lachey, who is 43 years old, added the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole to the post.

In a recent Instagram Story post, Vanessa Lachey shared a photo of herself with her NCIS: Hawai’i castmates. The picture featured Tori Anderson, Mitch Meyers, Jason Antoon, Seana Kofoed, Vanessa’s husband Nick Lachey, and Noah Mills posing in front of a beautiful skyline. Vanessa captioned the photo with “We ❤️ U Hawai’i’… We really REALLY LOVE you!”

Following the recent airing of part 2 of the two-part series finale of NCIS: Hawai’i on Monday, May 6, the cast surprised fans with a beach reunion. Unfortunately, the CBS series was officially canceled on April 26 after three seasons. Premiering in 2021, the Hawaii-based series starred Vanessa as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant, making her the first female lead for an NCIS spinoff.

"It is important for us to constantly update our schedule and maintain momentum," stated CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach on May 2 during the announcement of the network's 2024-25 schedule. "Although all our shows returned strong after the Hollywood strikes, we need to ensure that our schedule flows smoothly. We have to assess the financials and overall performance, and sometimes make difficult decisions."

Reisenbach firmly stated that there will be no reversal of the show's cancellation when questioned.

Vanessa shared on Instagram Story on April 27 that she felt "gutted, confused, [and] blindsided" by the cancellation. She mentioned that she is still processing the news while staying present with her family. Vanessa ended her message with "I love you all! Mahalo Nui Loa."

On May 1, Vanessa shared a lengthy goodbye to her NCIS character via Instagram alongside a video of herself wiping away tears while sitting by the ocean.

"This spot holds a special place in my heart as it's where I filmed episode 1," she shared in the caption. Sitting here at 2am in June 2021, I gazed out at the ocean and asked for protection for myself, my family, my crew, and our show. I promised to honor the beauty and integrity of Hawai’i while showcasing it to the world.

Reflecting on our time together, I wish we had more time and a proper good-bye. Despite this, I believe our connection runs deeper than any TV show. I am dedicated to supporting my cast and crew in any way I can. If you have the opportunity to work with any of them, I highly recommend it. They are truly exceptional individuals!"

The actress relocated her family to Hawai’i after landing the role in the series. She has three children - Camden, 11, Brooklyn, 9, and Phoenix, 7 - with her husband Nick. Along with forming strong bonds with her NCIS costars, she was proud to pave the way for Asian-American representation in Hollywood.

Vanessa expressed her excitement about the role when NCIS: Hawai’i premiered in 2021. She stated, “This role is a positive step for women, especially Asian-American actresses, looking to secure leading roles in television and film. As I was growing up, I never saw a female lead on television who resembled me. My hope is that young girls, such as my daughter Brooklyn, will see more actresses who look like them in the future.”
