Four individuals have perished and over 200 have been relocated following a destructive fire near the San Giovanni Evangelista hospital's mortuary in Tivoli, Italy. The fire originated on the lower level and swiftly spread to the emergency room area above.
Witnesses in the emergency room waiting for treatment reported that the electricity went out and the fire rapidly engulfed the entire wing, as per Italian press reports. The fire resulted in two deaths from smoke inhalation, one from a heart attack, and one from burns. Additionally, the fire brigade stated that other bodies in the mortuary were also burned.
Seven kids and numerous infants were part of the group that was evacuated. According to a hospital spokesperson who spoke with CNN affiliate Sky24, 134 of the evacuees were taken to hospitals nearby.

The fire department spokesperson mentioned that the building's wiring and the chemicals stored there are possible factors contributing to the fire. After battling the flames for approximately five hours, the firefighters will perform a comprehensive search for any additional victims once the building has cooled down.
The hospital, part of the city of Romes health system, was first constructed in 1337.
