Israeli actress Moran Rosenblatt, known for her recent role in Hulu's We Were the Lucky Ones, is looking to shift gears from dramatic acting to dark comedy.

"In my career, I've often been typecast in intense roles, which does reflect a part of who I am, but not all of it," Rosenblatt, 38, shared with us. "As a writer, I actually tend to lean towards dark comedies, like the short film I just worked on. I'm excited about the idea of exploring that side of me as an actress too."

The actress hinted at her upcoming project, revealing that a dark comedy could be in the works sooner than expected. She mentioned, "I'm currently working on a TV series that I hope to both write and act in. I'm excited to explore this genre and I hope to live up to your expectations."

Rosenblatt, recognized as a "Rising Star" by Us magazine, may be new to Hollywood but she has been a well-known figure in her home country of Israel for quite some time. Known as "The Crossover," she earned the Israeli equivalent of a Best Actress award in 2015 for her role in Wedding Doll. Now, she is making her mark in Hollywood with a standout performance in We Were the Lucky Ones, alongside Joey King and Logan Lerman.

I had the opportunity to work with the most talented cast and crew in the industry for eight months. They have become like family to me. We worked on a miniseries that tells the story of a Jewish family surviving World War II. It was a humbling experience for me to portray such a tragic time in history.

Even though I am new to Hollywood, I have always admired the great filmmakers, especially those who excel in dark comedy.

I have two favorite directors these days, Yorgos Lanthimos and Ruben Östlund. Their movies The Lobster and Force Majeure really impressed me, and I've been a fan of their work ever since. Working with them would be a dream come true.

Yorgos Lanthimos, aged 50, is known for his experimental and absurdist dark humor in films like Poor Things, which earned him Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Picture. Ruben Östlund, aged 49, is famous for his psychological and satirical black comedies, including his most recent Oscar-nominated film, Triangle of Sadness.

Rosenblatt's biggest fangirl moment was for TV's queen of dark comedy, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The British actress not only created but also wrote and starred in the show Fleabag. In the series, Waller-Bridge breaks the fourth wall to humorously comment on the often dark and traumatic situations her character faces. For her outstanding work, the 38-year-old actress has won three Emmys, two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a BAFTA.

"Phoebe Waller-Bridge is just phenomenal," Rosenblatt shared with Us. "I wish I could tap into her brilliant mind every morning."
